Speaker of the House for 118th US Congress

Also this is more than likely the end of Trump. His little trumpkin representatives are openly defying him and not voting for McCarthy. He has no real influence anymore.

Why do you think Trump is supporting a guy who said he was a Putin puppet and that he was responsible for Jan 6th? Because he wants the Republican establishment to be supportive of his Presidential run... not because he actually wants McCarthy as the speaker. This is all political showmanship. You don't drain the swamp by electing an alligator. MTG and Massie are supporting McCarthy for spots on committees. I don't fault them for that, two more votes against McCarthy isn't going to do anything. All you need is enough to block him until they put up somebody else.

No, it is that nobody cares about Trump anymore. They know he is washed up.

Amash floated his name apparently as an "moderate voice" that could pull votes from both sides of the aisle. This is a situation where his apparent TDS could really pay off.. Imagine a libertarian as House Speaker. I can't imagine he would be against any investigations into government, libertarians love investigating the government no matter what it is.. and we would have somebody who we would agree with nearly 100% of the time on policy issues.

If his whole TDS schtick was a show to position himself for something like this, then bravo.. I always thought he was too smart to believe in all that nonsense and did it because of his left leaning district, or as part of some other broad strategy. If an opportunity like this was the reason, then I applaud it. Doesn't look like there has been any traction on it yet, but would be a lot cooler if there was.

Amash would be an excellent choice, in terms of openness and fairness. Hardly anybody in Congress wants that.

The 19-20 should nominate him next go around, just for a change of pace. I hope no left libertarian bubbles would be burst by the fact that he wouldn't get a single Democrat vote.

Its funny how many times Trump has tried to play nice with the Republican establishment, only to have them screw him over. His stupid endorsements of McCain and Romney as a couple of examples. He keeps making deals with these people that despise him. Seems dumb to me.

Guess they won't be investigating Hunter Biden, the origins of the Covid Pandemic, the Afghanistan withdrawal, the US Department of Justice, or what's happening on the US Southern border anytime soon.

Do you really believe if McCarthy was speaker today that anything real and tangible would be done on any of those fronts?

As long as there's no Speaker they won't be able to pass any new laws or send money overseas. We should relishing in that even if it is only temporary.

Massie is doing the same thing. Sometimes you have to weigh your options carefully.

Ron Paul endorsed Romney... see above

I'm not saying you are wrong and they were right. Who knows. We will never know. I just know it's a difficult decision that has costs and benefits.

This will surely help the dollar remain as global reserve currency /s

We can now add political instability on top of existing social instability and economic instability. Remarkable how it's all lining up on the same timeline as the Saudis dropping the dollar in June. Our institutions keep giving the rest of the world reasons to dump it also.

Trump is dead to me. The guy brought in Bolton and kept Fauci around. Look at his crappy endorsements. I hope Desantis wipes the floor with him and makes Rand his running mate.

Best way to drain the swamp is to over fill it with swamp creatures so the water overflows then there's no more water in the swamp and they die from dehydration
