Spamming Debunked

Good article and good strategy. Anything they accuse us of, we will just say it is an attack by our competitors, like Rudy.

What?! Strategy? I see no stratedy here. Of course, it was somebody that was trying to hurt the campaign. Somebody would have to be a complete moron to do something like this thinking it will help the campaign.

The forum MAY be fake, but it has just as many "facts in evidence" as the story about Ron Paul supporters spaming.

mittromneyforum.com

All three of these domains were registered through proxy/privacy organizations. All appear to be parody sites. All resolve to the IP 74.52.105.210 and have the same nameservers NS269.WEBSITEWELCOME.COM and NS270.WEBSITEWELCOME.COM . All of the forums are run by the same software as well.

This indicates strongly that one entity is responsible for all these parody forums. Reading through the Rudy forum made it abundantly clear that the entire forum is a parody, and the particular thread (which was re-pasted here) is a hack. Not as in "the forum was compromised", but as in "this is ridiculous, and clearly a joke."

For example:
I'm glad it was sent out. Someone needs to deligitimize that moonbat. Dishonesty is honorabe when used against people like Paul who want to return us to a constitutional government that is hindered in the fight against terrurism. Everything changed after 911

This isn't some mamsy pamsy America that was all peaceful like it was back in the early days of the country. This is America after 9/11!!!

The more people in jail the better. Then what freedoms will those muslims be jealous of? None. Ha! Take that Obama Bin Ladin!

Rudy 08!

That last one was by user BergBuilder, for Pete's sake. They're poking fun at both Ron Paul, gullible "Paulbots" who jump on the idea of this conspiracy, and Rudy himself.

This is still developing, I plan to look into it some more, but the above seems like pretty sufficient evidence to shoot down this idea that Rudy's campaign or even supporters paid for the article. Please, let's not be gullible.

How to find your Gmail email headers

Gmail email headers

In order to be of any use, we will need the full headers of the spam emails you're receiving. In Gmail, this can be accessed at the far right of the message, click the down arrow, and select "Show original". This will open a plain-text version of the raw email, including full headers.

Note that your email address will be in the headers in at least one spot, so you should probably remove that before posting to the forum. Just replace with XXXXX or something.

Spamcop.net also offers a good service where you can forward messages to (also using full, unedited headers) and it will track where it came from and generate a report that you can send to the originating network. You have to do this within 3 days of receiving the email, however.

good luck, I have been trying to say this all the time.

Completely irrelevant.

So what. Those sites have nothing to do with SPAM.

There is NO PROOF (as yet) that any Ron Paul supporter is sending this SPAM.
There is NO PROOF (as yet) that the Ron Paul campaign had anything to do with this SPAM.

These reports are unfounded allegations, Unproved, and inaccurate.
If you have PROOF that a Paul supporter did this then show PROOF.
Otherwise STFU !!!

Um, hi. Did you read anything I just wrote? I accused no one of spam.

Read, please. Including what I was responding to, in the quote.

"STFU!" indeed.

It's been a heavy day over here. You will have to excuse some people's manners.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Yeah, we are trying to find out about this one that has the email address:

[email protected]

It's unlikely this is a real address, and it's hard to say without the context of the full email headers. The "From" and "Reply-to" addresses are easily forged and cannot be relied upon. One can, however, track the networks the email came through, and find out where it originated from. Then the administrator of that network can be contacted with the information, and they can determine the machine it originated from, and hopefully - at the least - fix the "hole" in their server that allowed the spam to be relayed, or shut down the account that was sending it (if it's theirs).

</geek>

Anyway, if full headers can be posted, that'd be helpful.

This thread has gone way sideways.

Topic: Presidential Campaign 2008
Ron Paul Campaign Under Cyber Attack
The recently reported spam emails that are believed to originate from a botnet do the Ron Paul campaign direct harm not good.

The SPAM was and is being blamed on the Campaign or it's supporters.
THERE IS NO PROOF.

Posts about spoof sites or parody forums have nothing to do with the SPAM.
If you can track down the spammers, DO IT.
Post Proof.

I think the guy was just trying to comment about the spoof sites because it was mentioned. And I think he was trying to help us out how we can locate the origins of this email:[email protected]

That would be nice but they are not coming from the same IP address.
