Source Close to Ron Says it's Possible he Could Still be Swayed to Run 3rd Party.......

I'm beginning to think running third party is a good idea - All things considered. I am noticing on different forums - Non political forums - People who years already gave up on both demo and repubs are pissed .. Obama people are even angry at what happened to Ron Paul at the RNC. Maybe we should act on those emotions - use them to our advantage for Ron Paul 2012.

I think it's a very good idea too. Main stream empty suits were terrified of the idea the entire time up until the nomination and for good reason. Money is absolutely not an issue. I say sock it to em. Rise again. Right?

Ronpaulrocks1 's history on DailyPaul shows that he is a veteran member of 4 years and 10 months, anybody know how posting credibility?

Ron should retire and then write a tell-all memoir with juicy details like Barry Goldwater did. Just expose the swamp. Drop dime on all the criminals.

I would vote for him...and I know all of us would vote for him no matter what party he was attached to

He should do whatever he wants to do. He's earned it. And if by some awesome miraculous chance he really does decide to do this he will have a ton of support.

oh please. it's only a few more months.

and even if he wins, that's 4 years he already had accepted might be a possibility when he ran in the primaries.

I don't see it happening, especially given the complications with sore loser laws (they don't apply, but they'll be enforced as though they do). Still, I'd support it anyway just to see the ashen look on Mitt Romney's face. ;)

We aren't a party trying to get continuous ballot access so 50 state access isn't as important. We need POLLS to get into the debates, is all.

Now for the bad news..Ron does not think the grassroots would fully back him because of all of the Rand and Benton bashing that has taken place, but RON would LOVE to make a last major push for Liberty in the presidential debates..........."

I have a hard time believing this. Ron has seen all the people everywhere he goes supporting him. They aren't supporting Jesse Benton, they are supporting him. If he runs he will get TONS of support from Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, and a lot of people that never voted before and have no party affiliation! His support would be over 5 times to 10 times his support in the Republican primaries. I think it would be enough support to put give him over 15% required to be in the debates.

If Ron Paul is really considering this then I want him to know that I and many others will work our butts off campaigning for him.

I've gotten into thinking about it more and I don't see Ron running third party. It just doesn't make sense and it would undo everything he and his supporters have worked hard to do for the better part of the last four years. If he runs third party and his supporters follow him, that will likely alienate them from the party and burn any and all bridges and inroads made within the Republican Party. Even if by some stretch of the imagination we win the Presidency, we have four years and by an even greater stretch, eight, to enact a world of change. After that, then what?

There is so much beyond the Presidency and I think Ron sees that. It would be suicide for the movement for him to run third party.

Us lobbying Ron Paul would not make a difference b/c he knows we want that. However, if the evangelicals start lobbying him, that might be worth considering. We could take it with a coalition -- think Doug Wead's last blog & Sarah Palin.

So, the burning question in my mind is, if he runs 3rd party, Matt, will you stop neg repping us & bugging us to stay in the republican party? :p

Be careful guys. Don't set yourself up for disappointment.

A million times this. I would love and support a third party run by Paul as much as any one else here, but as far as I know, it hasn't even been confirmed that there's necessarily any "special announcement" at all, let alone a huge bomb like this.

Yeah...I suppose the polls are all about "don't call us, we'll call you," right? Or is there something proactive we'd be able to do to get someone into debates?

The same problem applies to Johnson too, regardless of whether Paul decided to make it a go. Speaking of which, I think Paul could get a back-door route to continuous ballot access if he really wanted, if he and Johnson came to some sort of deal where Johnson was the headliner but promised VP Paul would call the shots (or even that he'd resign to let Paul take over). That would require him to give up his current VP if he has one, and it would require us taking him at his word, but a hail Mary strategy is a hail Mary strategy anyway, and the fun part is just spoiling the establishment's fun over the next few months...if Ron feels like it, of course.

I'm sure that Ron would rather just rest, and I think he may also be wary of sending too many mixed messages (since the GOP takeover is the way forward in the long run), but I'd come along for the ride if he decided to do it.

Viva la R[̲̅ə̲̅٨̲̅٥̲̅٦̲̅]UTION!

We can only hope, I wouldn't think so though.

How would anyone in the GOP know that we voted Libertarian in 2012? And even if they knew, how would it change anything?

Nothing personal toward anyone but I've read discussion from folks on various platforms and forums who are up in the thousands as far as content goes and with a number of years of participation. Some of them don't have a fuggin clue about anything. Many times they simply repeat others spew without any means of reflecting upon it if you were to beg them.

I've never frequented the DP so I don't know how far they generally let the drones go on unattended. In fact, I try to avoid them generally. This is the only one I even read. Maybe the poster has a source. Who knows.
