Something's Happening Here SHH! moneybomb March 18, 2012

So the concept has been brandied about for a while, and I have said over and over that I think this has the best viral potential of any moneybomb concept out there right now. Here are some ideas I have about it. First with the graphics I was thinking there should be an image a bit like this:

silencio.jpg

Basically just any black silhouette of someone making that hand signal with the word Something's Happening Here or the acronym SHH! next to it. Another important theme would be the date March 18 lining up with the establishment of the War Relocation Authority that was responsible for the internment of Japanese-Americans. The whole point of that date is to reinforce the idea that this sort of thing has already happened here. Something else I have thought of incorporating is the "First they came" quote:

A promotional video I am envisioning would probably be a bit like the Chinese troops in Texas ad by RevPac in terms of pacing, that is the sound gradually increases. Basically starting off in a very soft manner perhaps putting up the "first they came" quote, mention Japanese internment, and noting the various cases recently where foreign POWs were treated poorly. One great case to focus on would be the case of Abdul Rahim Jenko, where he was detained for nearly eight years without trial based on a videotape of him "confessing" to being an Israeli spy and sodomite under torture from the Taliban. Something to build on a point is to say the legal argument to justify treating detainees this way was them not being U.S. citizens. From there we can maybe mention Bradley Manning's detainment as well the charges of him "aiding the enemy" and also zero in on the "material support" clause of the Patriot Act that has been applied to humanitarian organizations advising groups on non-violent conflict resolution. Building up the sound we then get into the NDAA and Enemy Expatriation Act that specifically allows stripping citizenship from Americans, including birthright citizenship, meaning every American could be subject to the exact same miscarriages of justice to which Jenko was submitted. At that point the background music and voiceover would be pounding loudly and begin doing a play on "Us vs. them" by having text fastly going by saying "this is no longer about them" (interrupt with images of known terrorists) followed by "this is now about us" (display images of Americans of various different types). Then follow with "this is about them" (show images of major media people and establishment politicians) finishing it off with "this is not about us" (showing images of riot police attacking and detaining protesters). Suddenly we have the music rapidly soften with the silhouette of someone lifting their finger up to their mouth and shushing as the text "Something's Happening Here" materializes and condenses until it is just the acronym SHH. Fade to black and end with sound of Paul saying "When you sacrifice liberty for security you lose both" before displaying "Ron Paul 2012", the date of the moneybomb, and the url.

So thoughts? I don't think I could really pull off some of the gloss and effects with what I have, but I know we have some people out there who would be great for it.

sorry, but this idea is so unoriginal and completely cliche. The theme is NOT good. Sorry. someone had to say it. Let's think of a theme that is more related to an issue- like the economy. or something related to ending the war, so that people outside the base will actually raise an eyebrow. A big SHH in the title is misleading and doesn't grab anyones attention.

I think this is a fantastic idea, and many people were excited about it the first time it was brought up, but others really wanted the NOBP money bomb. We can do another one you think of some other time. NDAA is not cliche, nor the patriot act. the NAME of the money bomb doesn't have to be 'shh' it can just be one of the graphics. what graphic do you like better?

I was refraining from bumping this because the other moneybomb was extended through tomorrow, though, and I don't want people 'waiting' to donate.

I say an April Fools Day one.

All the other candidates are sleazy. Dont fall for them again...

I like April Fools day because it ties in to the date and disses the other candidates without going tinfoil hat.

If we do decide to do SHH it needs to be focused on the foothold the liberty movement is gaining in addition to black out type stuff. It does strike me as a little weary.

"Shh..." or "Shh!" can just be a graphic as sailingaway says. The name can be just what people have said: "Something's Happening Here" or simply "Something's Happening..."

I loved this idea when SA first proposed it before NOBP (which should have been pushed back and we should have done the Bailout for Freedom instead-much more marketable).

Using the Buffalo Springfield song AND/OR using "Twilight Zone" by Golden earring would be perfect. We could bring attention to NDAA, the advances of SOPA and PIPA, as well as the drones being used over our heads at this moment.

This money bomb will be the one to send the message out to start standing firm against the abuses being perpetrated by our government and to say that we are not mere sheep. If people can begin throwing ideas at this and if this is the one we want for March, then we need to come to an agreement soon to better promote this one than the last few. We need time on our side, no more waiting to market these money bombs 2-3 weeks away from when they're happening. A good solid month of promoting will do wonders.

I like it too, I just wonder if we should start working on it Saturday after this one is over.

Fed Notes for Votes- it's all legal since the money isn't...restore the monetary system and close down the federal reserve

I don't think we've had a truly original moneybomb since November 5th. :)

I think we should strongly consider moving it up to March 2nd. We didn't make enough on this one and need to hit him again before super Tuesday. IF we do poorly on super Tuesday it may dry up money significantly and I think we should make sure he has a decent amount of cash if that happens.

I dig the Buffalo Springfield song, but what about also doing another video with a little more edge like this:

Using footage starting with 9/11, Iraq War Propaganda, Patriot Act, TSA, OWS roundups, police shooting veterans, NDAA, SOPA/PIPA, etc.

March 4, 1789 - Government under the US constitution begins.

We can do a 'Restore the Constitution' Moneybomb on March 4th. Not to mention it will be before Super Tuesday....

people who make the videos can use the one they want

The Buffalo Springfield lyrics are just perfect for NDAA, Patriot Act, TSA, ACTA/SOPA stuff but people should use what inspires them

March 23, 1775 - Patrick Henry gives his famous speech where he says "Give me Liberty or give me death!"

Maybe we can do a 'Give me Liberty' Moneybomb on March 23th. This later date would give us more time to prepare...

More ammunition for those wondering "what can we do with this?"

My vote is to get this thing going NOW and set it for March 15th (Thursday) and allow it to drag on through the weekend. Then, we have two weeks to prepare for a smaller April Fool's MB that focuses on the other candidates lying.

Ron Paul isn't gonna last too long on the funds raised from No One But Paul moneybomb, considering it's Super Tuesday we're approaching.

Did anyone else notice that Ron Paul has been totally absent from the trail until the moneybomb, and as soon as the money poured in he got right back on the trail and started holding major events? To me, this is very telling that the campaign finances have run dry.

So the next moneybomb needs to be planned for as soon as possible, hopefully beginning of March.

I dislike the name or the imagery. Its basically parody/sarcasm, which is not the way to do money bombs. We're better off standing for things rather than making fun of things. "Black This Out" was a bad theme as well. No One But Paul was the best theme yet because it was positive instead of sarcastic.

I assumed we were a little on the light side collecting donations but didn't think we were bone dry. I mean, the campaign was using callers to dial up supporters and ask them to donate. What ever happened to that and how successful was it? My grandma got a call about a month ago and subsequently donated via mail. The reason I ask is that it seemed like we were pulling 100k days on a rolling average. If this was stopped, it needs to be rekindled to keep the campaign in the funds while the moneybombs give the added bonus to do extra stuff. I find it hard to believe that if you get a supporter on the phone (and they're not broke or against donating in general) that they'd be willing to give on the spot or through the mail. idk

You have to think strategically. The money Paul's campaign is getting has to come at the right moment. The NOBP money is going to have to be enough for Super Tuesday. By limiting themselves to working the caucuses it could even be enough to rack up several wins given our margins in the caucuses four years ago for these states. If we can make ourselves legitimate competitors as a result, it may allow for a string of victories without too much money in the rest of March where caucuses will rule the day. Our focus should be on the April 3rd and April 24th primaries. An April 1st bomb is not going to help with April 3rd, while March 2nd is way too soon for us to effectively prepare. March 18th lines up well for April 3rd, and leaves room for another moneybomb to add a cushion for April 24th.
