So the concept has been brandied about for a while, and I have said over and over that I think this has the best viral potential of any moneybomb concept out there right now. Here are some ideas I have about it. First with the graphics I was thinking there should be an image a bit like this:
![]()
Basically just any black silhouette of someone making that hand signal with the word Something's Happening Here or the acronym SHH! next to it. Another important theme would be the date March 18 lining up with the establishment of the War Relocation Authority that was responsible for the internment of Japanese-Americans. The whole point of that date is to reinforce the idea that this sort of thing has already happened here. Something else I have thought of incorporating is the "First they came" quote:
A promotional video I am envisioning would probably be a bit like the Chinese troops in Texas ad by RevPac in terms of pacing, that is the sound gradually increases. Basically starting off in a very soft manner perhaps putting up the "first they came" quote, mention Japanese internment, and noting the various cases recently where foreign POWs were treated poorly. One great case to focus on would be the case of Abdul Rahim Jenko, where he was detained for nearly eight years without trial based on a videotape of him "confessing" to being an Israeli spy and sodomite under torture from the Taliban. Something to build on a point is to say the legal argument to justify treating detainees this way was them not being U.S. citizens. From there we can maybe mention Bradley Manning's detainment as well the charges of him "aiding the enemy" and also zero in on the "material support" clause of the Patriot Act that has been applied to humanitarian organizations advising groups on non-violent conflict resolution. Building up the sound we then get into the NDAA and Enemy Expatriation Act that specifically allows stripping citizenship from Americans, including birthright citizenship, meaning every American could be subject to the exact same miscarriages of justice to which Jenko was submitted. At that point the background music and voiceover would be pounding loudly and begin doing a play on "Us vs. them" by having text fastly going by saying "this is no longer about them" (interrupt with images of known terrorists) followed by "this is now about us" (display images of Americans of various different types). Then follow with "this is about them" (show images of major media people and establishment politicians) finishing it off with "this is not about us" (showing images of riot police attacking and detaining protesters). Suddenly we have the music rapidly soften with the silhouette of someone lifting their finger up to their mouth and shushing as the text "Something's Happening Here" materializes and condenses until it is just the acronym SHH. Fade to black and end with sound of Paul saying "When you sacrifice liberty for security you lose both" before displaying "Ron Paul 2012", the date of the moneybomb, and the url.
So thoughts? I don't think I could really pull off some of the gloss and effects with what I have, but I know we have some people out there who would be great for it.
sorry, but this idea is so unoriginal and completely cliche. The theme is NOT good. Sorry. someone had to say it. Let's think of a theme that is more related to an issue- like the economy. or something related to ending the war, so that people outside the base will actually raise an eyebrow. A big SHH in the title is misleading and doesn't grab anyones attention.
