So why aren't YOU running for office? A PLAN.

I've been following some of the races here in NH and it's amazing because each of the Ron Paul endorsed candidates has around 15 volunteers helping them. It's much more than other candidates.

Might have something to do with the incredible number of people that have moved recently. Over 30 in October alone.

I would like to run but there is this 'I don't even know where to start and what to do brick wall' that I keep hitting. I would like to concentrate on the state level. But I don't even know what those people do. Don't get me wrong, I get the gist of their duties but aside from sitting in an office all day waiting for a vote to come up and campaigning for reelection what do they do? I am a likable and outgoing guy and I have solid believes that if delivered the right way would make people want to vote for me. But I didn't graduate from high school, I don't have a college degree in Law or any thing for that matter, I own a small robotics company, and I just have problem seeing myself in a political landscape even though I would love to do this more than anything. I have gained enough political knowledge in the last year alone to make the average person explode and I guess I am just digging for some one reassurance that people have done more with less (at least in the political world).

Any info on exact duties for state senators or Representatives would be great.

While you bicker about your religions, your country collapses around you.

I will be running for congress when old enough.

You've got an awesome idea - if both candidates stand for liberty, only 1 candidate will win but liberty will always win. I will strongly think about this over the next couple years and see what I would like to run for.

Well, you have to go back to the other threads mr stevenson has started..like the reason he dispises the constitution party and chuck baldwin because they are Christian. You'll see why he has turned off all the christians on the forum. Tones

For the record, my name is spelled STEPHENSON.

Secondly, MAYBE YOU should go back and read those threads again. As I make it clear OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER that I do not hate Christians.

I hate tyranny, and I hate theocracy which is often a tool for tyranny.

I don't want ANY religion having authority in the government. Including mine.

Your lack of reading comprehension is starting to look intentional. You support theocracy so it's nessacary for you to try and paint me as a bad person because you know you cannot engage me on the subject in an intellectual way.

Well, Mr stevenson wants a constitutional amendment for gay marriage...and i disagree with that..i am for leaving it to the states and the people. I just can't support that. If the people..such as the people of California, vote to amend their state constitution to reflect one man one woman...it should stand. unfortunately, the cali supreme court stepped in and denied the will of the people. I have issues with that sort of thing. Remember, I'm a paleoconservative, not a libertarian. Tones

Ok I was right. Now you ARE making things up.

I don't want a constitutional amendment about marriage. I want the state out of marriage. AND ANY OTHER RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION.

I am sad to say that the Presidential race has been over for a long time now. I know it is difficult to give up, but rather then looking at that as being a huge loss, I think we need to consider putting whatever energy we can behind local candidates for Congress this year. But time is also running out for that as well.

A friend of mine and I talked about running in a district nearby in 2010. He plans to run as the Democrat, and I plan to run as the Republican. It then came to me, why don't we do this ALL OVER THE COUNTRY in 2010?

One thing I have learned in local politics is that most people don't care. They rarely even know who their Congressman is, let alone what their platform was. Most people don't vote, and those who do rarely pay attention to anything but the presidential election. They vote for local office almost exclusively by party affiliation. They generally have no idea what the platform of their local candidates is. And in some cases, they are given no options.

Something I don't think a lot of people realize is that even if we had gotten a Third party candidate or even Ron Paul into the office of President, they alone could not of accomplished what we need to accomplish. The Executive cannot change the tax system, and cannot alone abolish the federal reserve. If we want to return to Constitutional Government, then the Executive actually should be doing hardly anything in comparison to what he is doing. And just like we see when the Congress is dominated by an opposing party, the opposing party will fight tooth and nail to render that President ineffective. If we got a President who upheld our beliefs, particularly a third party President, he would fall prey to this from BOTH sides of the aisle.

In order for this to work, we need to unite behind the 4 point platform that Ron Paul set up. We need to form support groups for Kucinich Democrats as much as Ron Paul Republicans. We need to invade BOTH parties. And at the same time keep a strong presence in the third parties.

We don't agree with everything that the Kucinich people say obviously. But if we are going to have a Democrat and in some cases we will because the district they are running in will be dominated by one party or another then wouldn't you rather have a Bob Conely or Dennis Kucinich?

Then imagine this scenerio. Sometimes there will be primaries, our candidates may not win their Republican or Democratic primary, or maybe both. If that happens we could have strong Libertarians or maybe even Greens to be the third line of defense.

So ask yourself right now, why are YOU not running for office? What could we do to get A Ron Paul Republican, a Dennis Kucinich Democrat, and a strong Libertarian, Green or Constitution Party candidate IN EVERY DISTRICT?

The 2008 Presidential election is over.

RON PAUL REVOLUTIONARIES FOR CONGRESS IN 2010!

because everyone hates me. and I hate them. oh well. I was on the verge to once, but now I've got a job and I never liked talking to people anyway

I'd run as Democratic-Libertarian fusion. I wouldn't just run as a Libertarian, fuck that

You've got an awesome idea - if both candidates stand for liberty, only 1 candidate will win but liberty will always win. I will strongly think about this over the next couple years and see what I would like to run for.

Please do. It is going to take people getting out of their shells and participating to make it work.

That sort of thing needs to happen EVERYWHERE in 2010. I wish it was happening around here. The economy is forcing people to choose driving to work or doing anything else.

This is another worry of mine, the more they tank the economy the more difficult it will be to fight corporate power over our government because we won't have the money.

People are all supposed to have perfect teeth these days and I'm just lucky I still have them. Haven't been inside a dentist's office in over 20 years.
Perhaps that's why your teeth are not that good. Try going to a dentist sometime

If I show up on your doorstep with campaign literature, you are more likely to call the sheriff and grab the shotgun than open the door for pleasantries.
HA HA HA. Now that's funny right there... I don't care who ya are...

I would like to run but there is this 'I don't even know where to start and what to do brick wall' that I keep hitting.
Start off by going to your local GOP meeting. Get some fellow Ron Paul Republicans to go with you. And just sit and observe for several months before ever saying anything.

But I didn't graduate from high school, I don't have a college degree in Law or any thing for that matter
If you know how to read then the library and Amazon are your best friend to help you learn what you need to.

Since I am 19 currently, I will not be able to run immediately. I am doublemajoring, one of those majors being political science. My hope is to get elected as a major in a medium sized town for a few years, learn a little more about politics, build income, and basically get my name out there so people have heard of me. Then when I am 25 or so, im going to run for congressman. Then who knows, maybe try running for president one day!:D
