So, Rand Paul and David Koch Walk into a VIP Reception

Will Peter Thiel be supporting Rand Paul, as he did Ron Paul in 2012?

Most certainly. I could not find the interview again, but in 2012, he said that his support for Ron then wasn't intended to make Ron win, but to build support for libertarian ideas come 2016. I think he said something like "this is exercise for 2016". Since then, he has had several meetings with him.

Although these very wealthy people can't just dump unlimited amount of money either to RANDPAC, Rand Paul Victory or to the campaign. (He can donate tons of money to RANDPAC, but Rand can't use it for his own campaign specifically) It needs to go through an SuperPAC or outside group that supports Rand.

Never doubted it for one second, Rand is exactly what David wants in a presidential candidate. Rand has more allies than most of us think or are led to believe.

There will be Peter Thiel and MORE...but it really isn't my role to say.

I believe that we have some Romney people behind us. I'm fairly certain that a deal was struck in 2012: Ron Paul did not attack Romney, Rand endorsed in exchange for access in 2016.

I also believe this is part of the reason that Romney already stated that he will not be running in 2016.

I find that a little hard to believe, but it did cross my mind when I heard Romney's recent non-announcement: "“I believe that one of our next generation republican leaders, one that may not be as well known as I am today, one who has not taken their message across the country, one that is just getting started, may well emerge as being better able to defeat the Democratic nominee. In fact, expect and hope that to be the case.” ...that doesn't sound like Jeb or Christie does it?

Either Rand Paul or Walker.

Either Rand Paul or Walker.

Yea, while I don't believe it now, I'm not categorically rejecting it either. If Romney's thinking that the party establishment hung him out to dry this time (which appears to be the situation), he just might grow a conscience and endorse the candidate he actually prefers, or endorse an anti-establishment candidate just to spite them. Either way, if that's how it turns out, I'll take it.

I could see a Romney endorsement happening. Hopefully his cash follows.

another example of how f#cking pathetic politics are and why I loathe feeling obligated to participate (again) in this process. a bunch of f#cking 12 year old kids. the only reason i'm still representing my precinct as a republican is that the wife loves Rand. having a Koch on my side doesn't make me feel better about it.

Yes, Rand is the logical choice for Romney's endorsement, given Romney's general libertarian leanings.

Well, since Romney has no political leaning other than which way the wind is blowing, if he endorses Rand Paul, that would be a good sign.

Disappointed. I was hoping the thread title would be the setup for a "A priest and a rabbi walk into a bar.." type of joke. Half tempted to neg rep the OP.
