"He spoke out against putting dope dealers in federal prison, opposed a bill to crack down on child pornography and voted against the Iraq war."

"A soft-spoken obstetrician who’s delivered more than 4,000 babies, Paul has managed to strike a chord both with little old ladies — his 'Granny Warriors' — and dope-smoking libertarians. When he ran for president in 1988, High Times magazine ran a cover story titled, 'Ron Paul: Pro-Pot Presidential candidate.'

His views on abortion also have found common ground where usually there is none. He is resolutely against abortion but, as with illegal drugs and anti-pornography laws, he thinks that the federal government should butt out and let the states decide what to do."

Okay, so now Ron Paul condones child pornography, and all his supporters are dope-smoking libertarians and old ladies.

Don't get down people, this is our country. Don't let them use their psychological warfare to discourage you. We know Ron Paul is the best candidate, and we know we are good people and this is OUR country. Don't get down, get more determined. Look at the treachery of those in power, willing to kill hundreds of thousands, even millions to secure their wealth and privilege.

most of these self righteous types need to remember how many drugs they smoked in college or the corn field...this "lock 'em up" crap is simple code for---get the bad colored people off the streets...sickening.

How about eveybody just turn in their own dope smoking kids and leave everybody else ALONE!

rant over...

Even though I smoke marijuana (daily, and pretty substantious amounts of it, lol, but that's another story), it's sick that this sort of bias attacks are piling on and on. They're really focused on this.

Justice and Virtue will prevail, this I guarantee you. It is only a matter of time. They will be utterly defeated.

Thanks for all your words of encouragement, Dark_Horse_Rider, but it still burns me up when people pull this kind of crap. People try to paint Ron Paul as a pro-drug, racist man who, apparently, now thinks child pornography is a good thing? Not only is this a complete lie, but why not hit on the other candidates! At least they have scandals that can be proven! Huckabee's crazy son and his own theft of furniture from the governor's mansion, Romney's abortion flip-flopping, McCain's flat-out lies - these are all fair game, yet no one mentions them.

Nice selective reading. It was a positive article. I swear sometimes I wonder if some of you even comprehend any part of what you read.

Context... look it up.

I would have regarded it as a positive article, except that the way the author words some of it is bound to turn people off. It wasn't blatantly biased, but people looking for a strong leader are going to see the opening paragraph and be disgusted. It sometimes even champions Ron Paul's positions, particularly in the second page, which I did not quote from, but it also says that his positions are unattainable.

The article is clearly designed to alienate conservative Republicans, and anyone mainstream for that matter.

You are the one not looking deep enough. Notice that the material in question occured at the beginning of the article? That is a common technique.

Same here i agree... Alchol and Tobacco and mecial prescribed pills are the real drugs.

Most people don't understand concepts and philosophies. The average person likely has never picked up a copy of "Atlas Shrugged". If they had, they would understand why Ron Paul has the positions he does, regardless of what they may imply.

"A moron, raised to the level of a genuis, would paint graffiti on the sides of a computer... then die of starvation." - Ayn Rand.

Many of Ron Paul's positions do alienate certain types of conservative republicans -- particularly pro-authority, pro-war, individuals. The point is that most "mainstream" voters oppose the Iraq War, and the continued criminalization of marijuana. Ron Paul is a small-government, pro-liberty conservative -- you cannot appeal to the hardcore pro-Bush republican base on that platform.
