So basically you need to a hardcore libertarian to hang out around here? [admin: no]

big tent, lots of different people, and vive' la differance!!!

IMHO it's one of the best things about our group, we're all so different, but we have pretty much the same goal, restoring our rights and freedoms.

Am I right? As I read through the majority of the posts on these forums there is an alarming trend of intolerance for us good ol states rights conservatives. I believe that a constitutional republic is what was intended for this country and believe that a return to the ideals of such as limited government and Federalism is exactly what this country needs, but the libertarian occult nature of these forums is out of control. Almost enough to turn a FredHead convert away from this movement. What gives?

Plenty of us are here, but I'm not sure why you think name dropping Fraud Lobbyist is worth a damn. That guy is as phony as they come!

If you truly believe in freedom, you should be aware that social conservatism is as damaging as economic liberalism. And when the two come together, we're hopelessly fucked.

The folksy communitarian types who care mainly about abortion and immigration have hurt us. Case in point would be the campaign not letting Howard Stern interview Paul. That kind of blue-haired idiocy does not help anyone.

I have a feeling you did not mean to say economic liberalism...

but I agree with you 100% about social conservatism.

Yeah well, I'd probably take anything the American Enterprise Institute says, with a major grain of salt. This organization is very neoconservative-laden.

AEI? I'll take it with a shot of anti-freeze and a lobotomy.

Well seeing as how he was really the only one voicing support for Federalism ( arealconservativeideal) I used him as an example. And I wasn't name dropping, I was offering context for my comments. Is there some sort of problem with that?

While I agree with your general message, you really caught me off-guard with your last comment about "blue-haired idiocy". I'm sincerely hoping that we learned our lesson about dismissing (and worse) older Americans and blaming them for all our ills. Because if it wasn't for some of these people, our country would have gone completely down the tubes long ago. Not to mention the fact that most older Americans actually get off their sofas (and their computers) and GO VOTE.

If this is truly a big tent, we need to include the older generations too. There is a wealth of knowledge there, not to mention money to invest in saving their country. Turn them off and we will get NONE of it.

Won't take AEI's word for it, well then how about straight from the horse's mouth, it is as bad as hoff-sommers described it or worse. I am the farthest thing from neo-con you can get, raised conservative democrat and that place is intolerant closed minded and solely devoted to multiculturalism as long as the culture isnt European.

People on here dont realize that ron paul is a conservative, and they all flame any conservatives on here.

no it isn't.....not even close

Social Conservatism cares about minimizing scope. A small community can properly decide how to handle social issues. Economic Liberalism recognizes that if the scope of government isn't big enough, it will not succeed.

You ever notice how social conservatives talk about state rights whereas economic liberals talk about global economy? Social Conservatism fits into self determination - which is what our revolution was about. Economic Liberalism is about ending these grand experiment in freedom and ushering in an age of utopia.

Only Dennis Kucinich supporters fall for this garbage. :D
