So basically you need to a hardcore libertarian to hang out around here? [admin: no]

Well seeing as how he was really the only one voicing support for Federalism ( arealconservativeideal) I used him as an example. And I wasn't name dropping, I was offering context for my comments. Is there some sort of problem with that?

He is a two bit phony. Deficit spending on infrastructure and energy is not conservative. Using the federal government to police for drugs is not conservative. Preemptive war is not conservative. He is a big government advocate.

You might be enamored with a guy skilled in lobbying for more money and assuming a role and acting the part out, but not me.

I have a feeling you did not mean to say economic liberalism...

but I agree with you 100% about social conservatism.
I absolutely did.

Maoist China: Social conservatism + economic liberalism
USSR: Social conservatism + economic liberalism
Nazi Germany: Social conservatism + economic liberalism
The current state of the U.S.?...social conservatism + economic liberalism

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong here, but as I remember it, it was the Anti-Federalists who were the big proponents of states' rights; not the Federalists. Definitions have been so very turned around in our country. The Classical Liberals were the good guys, but then the term "liberal" got taken over by the progressives. Same kind of thing with the term, "conservative". It used to mean someone who believed in a limited constitutional republic, states' rights, personal responsibility and privacy and individual liberty. Now, it's been bastardized by the big government neoconservatives.

Economic Liberalism:

Minimal interference by government in the economy and protection of private property rights and contracts.

I'm talking about the modern sense of the phrase, which is entirely the opposite

Okay, stop.. right here. Seriously.

The next thing I want posted is a RELIABLE source on the definition of Economic Liberalism.

I've so sick of these word games...

Would probably be best just to call it keynesian economics vs. supply-side economics...

No, I'm serious. Stop the thread.

I'm calling this shit out.

GIVE ME A SOURCE. Enough of this horsecrap.

Ron Paul preaches "state's rights" but I doubt he'd have nearly as much support if he didn't also believe strongly in individual liberty.

sorry, neither of us is going to stuff the genie back in the bottle.

Conservatives want a theocracy and liberals want to erect statutes of Joseph Stalin.
