Smartest Political move of 2012...

Today I woke up late, didn't get to check the forums or DP or any news outlets. I run a restaurant in Lake Mary Florida and the first news I heard about today's events were all from hardcore republicans who know I back Dr. Paul 100% and they all came in today expecting me to be in a fowl mood. After my first regular mentioned to me, "Are you sad?" and I responded "why??!" He told me Ron Paul had dropped out...I thought to myself "NO WAY!" and I ran back to the office to pull up my favorite sites to see what was really going on, which we knew was coming. A change in strategy.

Then I turned to Politico.com and HP.com and a couple other MSM sites. Total spin, expected(which is what I am guessing the campaign knew would happen). But as today has gone on I have heard from a couple other people here stating "I guess its over now" and I just kinda played along like yeah "gotta stop Obama now".

But could this be the Smartest Political move of 2012? I think it is. After what we have witnessed in AZ and OK, people who don't agree with us were showing up more to stop us after our victories in Iowa, Maine, Nevada and Louisiana. Now I bet in the coming delegate elections less people who support Romney will show because whats the point when everyone thinks his last opponent has dropped out.

We all know that Dr. Paul is going to the end. But they don't. I am telling you while this may seem like a set back in the short term, long term this could be what we need when we get to Tampa and 40% of the delegation is behind Dr. Paul.
 
many of us have concluded this after questioning it at first. I think this will allow all the money to focus on hiring more ground forces to help the alternates get seated as delegates at the conventions coming up which gives us more vote power and more eyes to observe the vote process and to communicate quicker. We are already organized well in other states but this will be the icing on the cake.

I felt this too. Whether it is deliberate or not, we are now "playing dead", and the result may be to neutralize our opposition. :)
 
The problem with this, though, is that you expect every Ron Paul supporter to have the wherewithal to look beyond the media spin. Ron Paul does have soft support. Not everybody is a hard-core Ron Pauler like the members of this forum. This could (and will) decrease financial support to the campaign, and certainly the perception of widespread legitimacy.

I would've preferred they waited until after the money bomb and after TX/CA Primary, but that's just me....

With this change in strategy, the campaign won't need the money to run ads anymore, so they won't need to raise nearly as much money as previous money bombs. Also, the people attending the state conventions trying to become delegates aren't exactly soft supporters, so I don't think we have anything to worry about.
 
i think this should have waited till after this weeks moneybomb. grassroots was getting momentum from all these state convention victories, and some supporters are getting discouraged again. woulda had a good moneybomb, then announced it next monday. and we woulda had a good chunk of money to work with the delegate process.

soft support don't become delegates. We get our soft suport in the general. Now we focus on what we know best.

I'm afraid if they announced this after the money bomb people would interpret that as the campaign giving up because they didn't get as much money as they had hoped for. Doing it this way, while it will decrease our funding for the money bomb, will show people that the campaign is still serious about continuing on with the delegate strategy.
 
There's about 1,000 people on the forum right now. Lots of guests.

Let's not make the strategy too obvious!
 
I really like this move, I just hope the Romney lurkers on this site don't catch on. But this could be our best shot!

For some odd reason, it makes me feel like donating more.
 
I have spent far more time on the DP but not anymore. Comments over there on this new strategy have really turned me off. I like what I read here and will make this my number one Ron Paul website.
