Should the US accept Syrian Refugees?

I'm curious to see what people here think. I'm ok with accepting refugees so I voted "yes", but I'm also fine with them being vetted more carefully than they already are. There seems to be a lot of fear-mongering.

Not the blind swinging the gates open the U.N is demanding. I am fine with legitimate refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution. Especially Christians, and women and children. The trouble is it's hard to know someone's motive. Also they shouldn't automatically become voters etc.

And until we completely cease meddling over there. I see no reason for us to do both: meddle and accept refugees.

This is an excellent point. I can't think of many things more suicidal from a policy perspective than bombing the middle east while also inviting its inhabitants here.

Same as with any other immigration, if they have the means to or someone else provides them the means to then we should not stand in their way. Charities or other organization whose mission it is to bring over refugees that fail to properly screen individuals they bring over should be dealt with by individuals/organizations/voluntary governments concerned with their safety. We aint about that pre-crime here.

While you speak much truth, I didn't want, or ask, my government to do this, nor did they do this on my behalf.

I have little doubt that some of these people would eventually try to kill Americans. There is no screening process.

Do I have some moral duty to accept the murder of innocent Americans - possibly myself - because my corrupt government constantly ignores what is best for American citizens? Should I be on the hook for the crimes of the elite? Do two wrongs make a right?
