Shenanigans At The North Carolina Convention

NorthCarolinaFlyer.jpg

This flyer was put out buy an individual not any PAC. Not anything about this flyer was illegal. The flyers had been vetted by multiple legal teams to make sure that it was okay to give out during the convention.

My friend deliberately waited until the end of the convention to hand out these flyers because the flyer were information 'purpose only'.

The thugs that brutally accosted my friend are on this particular flyer plus their GOP high powered attorney.

Better scan please? The Enquirer-style questions are pretty useless unless the fine print contains some backup.

I saw one of these from a distance and stopped reading after the grammatically-challenged first line.

Sorry, I cannot scan it any better since this was sent to me.

Was this a physical altercation? Im not clear what actually transpired. The hotel has security cameras all over the place. If your friend was assaulted then she needs to contact the lawyer asap and get those tapes before they disappear. If there wasn't any physical contact and/or was removed by the hotel/convention center itself then I doubt she has any legal recourse.

Yeah and I also left out where Carson Daves tried to ram the platform through so the National Delegates could hold some sort of meeting that wasn't even listed in the program, and someone shot back that "we're here to finish our convention business, not accommodate your social calendar". BOOM!

That makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I can't stand that dude.

As we speak she is giving her deposition to an attorney. She also had witnesses to this event.

Sorry, I don't really understand this flyer. Can you elaborate. Thanks.

The flyers handed out were to make people aware of the dirty tricks some in the GOP have been pulling. These individuals did not like the fact that she was making people aware of their tricks and threatened to sue her for libel, and physically got right up in her face threatening her. They wouldn't stop until she physically walked away from them and then they followed her and continued to harass her. She has plenty of witnesses that will attest to this as well.

That is the best I can elaborate on. She has been busy and she will be able to add more in this thread, herself, in the next couple of days.

Here is the information transcribed from the flyer:

Is GOP intruding into local or state and national primaries?
Are they recruiting and supporting newly switched Democrats and opportunist RINOs to run against conservative incumbents and principled new candidates?
Are they running Decoy Candidates so as to manipulate elections and place their puppets?
Is Vice Chairman Wayne King the acting henchman? And for whom?
[Sen Rucho? Rep Tillis?]

Thanks for the transcription. I hope that if an altercation took place that the Sheraton/Koury security cameras caught it all and that all appropriate legal actions are taken both in a court of law and within the party and/or legislature if individuals in positions of leadership in the latter were involved in intimidation or assault.

That being said, this flyer is pretty stupid, making baseless accusations, naming names, and not providing any backup. Who put this together and who are the "multiple legal teams" who vetted this? Since you named names on the flyer itself, I'm sure you're for transparency regarding the genesis of the flyer.

I found some of these in a bathroom stall. Because the accusers were not identifying themseleves, I doubt the flyers accomplished much beyond head-scratching.

Basically, I am the messenger. I wouldn't know any of these people if I kicked them. I am in NH, so I was just passing along information I was told. My friend is being represented by one of the attorneys who backed this information flyer. This information to my understanding was handed out at the end of the convention and it was meant for the next elections session and for people to be made aware of these type dirty tricks.

She has been extremely busy so when she gets a chance I will make sure she jumps right in here.

One thing the "veterans" told us even in 2008 - when you step into the convention, there are many old ghosts of previous party battles carried into the ballroom as well. That's why when "Paul" people offer up on an amendment, some of the back benchers vote too. They may be doing it, simply because they do not like some particular individual who is arguing against the amendment ... votes don't always revolve around issues.

The party has a litany of various slights over the years. Be careful about being swept up into the drama.

Okay...here is information that was forwarded to me that has names.

1500 of the attached flyers were distributed at the NCGOP Convention Friday
and Saturday. (I believe 1700 attended.)

The below reports are from Jessica Hult, Ginny Cooper and ‘Jane Doe’ all of
whom attended the NCGOP Convention last weekend. Jessica and ’Jane Doe’
handed out the attached flyer and were approached and questioned (grilled?)
about the flyer. Below they report their experiences. ******
Contact info is provided at the bottom of the page. ****
------------------------------

This report from Jessica Hult from Carteret County who *found herself
accused of ‘distributing slanderous and libelous’ material by Sen Rucho,
Rep Tillis, NCGOP VChair Wayne King and Attorney Paul Foley whom told her
that she was looking at being sued by them.
*
[Jane Doe was subjected to similar treatment while handing out the flyers
but, frightened by the experience, left and decided not to report her
experience.]****

Saturday at the Convention two men approached Ms Hult - NCGOP Vice Chair
Wayne King and NCGOP attorney Paul Foley. They rushed her with aggressive
questions giving little time for response and continually threatened her
with being sued, and told her that she was probably in violation of
campaign finance law.****

King asked her why was she passing out 'slanderous and libelous' material,
and did she know it was slanderous and libelous material. She told them
that she had volunteered to help hand out the attached flyers for a friend.

Ms Hult also told them that she was distributing a flyer that represented
the questions of a good number of delegates there that day. ****

VChair Wayne King seemed very upset and pushed for the names of those
behind the ‘illegal, slanderous and libelous flyer’. They asked her if she
knew that this was illegal because of its ‘libelous and slanderous’ nature,
that it violated campaign law and went against NCGOP Party rules.****

They asked her for any evidence justifying the flyer. ****

She responded ‘What’s wrong with asking questions?’ ****

They asked Ms Hult if she would have worded the flyer differently and she
responded that she would have but that she’d agreed to hand it out as it
was, and that ‘Jessica Hult keeps her word.’ A lady from Charlotte
witnessed this. (I’m hoping to get permission to give her name.) ****

*Then, Sen Rucho and Rep Tillis* joined King and Foley, and Tillis began
"shaking his finger in her face while asking why she was distributing a
'slanderous and libelous flyer'?”. She told me that she is 5’3 and felt
pretty shaken when ‘this tall man’ was addressing her this way. She says
Sen Rucho also appeared upset and both he and Rep Tillis wanted 'examples
of what was said’ in the flyers. ****

Tillis asked ‘Is this about Art Williams?’ Jessica told him yes but he is
only one of several they were looking into. (Fmr Sen Arthur Williams was
recruited by Repubs to run against a Repub who had already filed. He was
promised support, changed parties and filed -- one example.)****

Then both King and Tillis demanded names and she said she could give one
name (name withheld – he was just the flyer deliverer) and King and the
lawyer demanded the correct spelling. ****

King and Tillis ask her if she’d be willing to stop distributing the flyers
and throw out the rest. (She and the others had already pretty much handed
out all of them.) She agreed to stop handing them out for now, but not to
throw them out. There were folks watching this drama go on and after the
drama was over they seemed even more interested in the flyer. ****

The gang challenged her again on handing out the flyers and then said
‘Let’s go find (name withheld --the deliverer but he was not there). ****

Finally, before Tillis left, he again put his finger in her face and told
her to 'wait two years and see – that he’d be involved in many primaries'.
****

------------------------------

Ginny Cooper is from Pitt County and is GOP Chair there. She says that VChr
King and Attny Foley addressed her about the flyer - about which she says
she knew nothing at the time. She asked to see it and remarked that the
points were valid and that the NCGOP should stay out of local and state
primary elections. (She'd had to tell the NCGOP House Caucus herself to
butt out of Pitt county politics.)

The two men agreed with her but King kept saying that he knew nothing about
meddling in state primaries. (Later she decided that she did not believe
him.) ****

------------------------------

Party/Caucus interference in primaries in the east (and elsewhere)
included recruiting such candidates as Arthur Williams, Jerry Evans, Randy
Ramsey, protecting Stephen LaRoque, placing Greg Dority as a decoy
candidate for Auditor. There are witnesses to the state party’s meddling in
the above races such as Senator Fern Shubert, long time Cong Dist and
County Chair Bob Pruett, Craven Chair Chuck Tyson and Carteret Chair Greg
Lewis. I think it's safe to say that rather than try to fight the
NCGOP/RNC machine by trying to bring allusive 'evidence' of top down power
bullying county and district GOP members and officers are telling the
Caucuses and NCGOP to stay out of their elections.****

More about our 'trustworthy' politicians

Published: Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 @ 12:50 am
By: Hood Richardson

All conservatives got a surprise when several self certified conservative Republicans suddenly flipped to the liberal side. Ashley Woolard and Bill Tarpenning, announced they are actively working as paid political managers for the liberal Arthur Williams who demanded a run off with Mattie Lawson, the conservative Republican. Lawson beat both Williams and Jeremy Adams but did not get enough of the vote to avoid a run off. Jeremy Adams, after representing himself as a Ron Paul conservative endorsed Williams. Politically,Williams is as far the left as you can get and a Ron Paul conservative is as far the right as you can get. It all looks like sour grapes, if Adams is what he said he is? Rumors have been around for some time that Woolard, Tarpenning and Greg Dority recruited Williams.

Williams has not hesitated in the past to hire and donate money to those who he thought could deliver votes. Williams has paid money to the Reverend David Moore for political consulting and endorsements in the past. During his past several campaigns Williams has paid Moore, over $5,000. During other North Carolina House campaigns Williams has made donations and payments to Moore and his Church.

Williams made sure his campaign spread money to the boys in his like-minded club. Gregg Dority got $500 for his campaign to become State Auditor and Gary Brinn got $200 for his Beaufort County Commissioner race. Dority lost in the primary election and Gary Brinn is running this fall, he came in fourth in the commissioners primary. Gary Brinn's campaign is also managed by Ashley Woolard and Bill Tarpennig. Brinn claims to be a conservative Republican but Woolard and Tarpenning are not behaving like conservatives. Could it be that Woolard and Tarpenning are breaking into the hazardous world of handling candidates and campaign management? Seems to me that they should have won at least one election before trying this. Could it be Arthur Williams is that desperate or is he just trying to buy a block votes the same way as he has in the past?

Williams did show his loyalty to Thom Tillis, Speaker of the House, by donating $1,000 to his campaign. With Williams demonstrated ability to kiss up to past Speakers, Tillis will reward Williams with plenty of campaign money if Williams can just survive the run off with conservative Republican Mattie Lawson. Tillis did not take any chances with Arthur, when he cancelled his commitment to be the keynote speaker at the local Republican convention held at the Beaufort County Community College last month. Tillis cancelled at the very last minute and Williams was a no show too. This event was held before the primary election and Tillis did not want to face the supporters of conservative Mattie Lawson and opportunist Jeremy Adams in public after he took Arthur Williams money. Williams says he was blessed by the big boy Republicans in Raleigh, so I guess that would be Tillis.

We are seeing more and more evidence the Republican Party leadership in Raleigh along with their hacks are trying to hand pick puppets from Eastern North Carolina. Republicans and Unaffiliated voters in the Republican primary defeated this effort when Michael Speciale, Norm Sanderson, and Bill Cook beat their Raleigh blessed opponents in the primaries. If conservative voters who dislike party boss politics will come out for the Lawson/Williams election and defeat Williams, a clear message will land in Raleigh. We do not like party bosses. We have had enough of party controlled politics. The Basnight system will no longer work in Eastern North Carolina. If we will return to our founding fathers' roots. Party boss politics will not work any where in these United States. Corruption and socialism need to be gone for good.

Early voting begins on June 28 at the Board of Elections with all precincts open on July 17. Registered Republicans and unaffiliated voters may vote in the House 6 runoff, regardless of whether you voted in the May 6 Primary or not. If you are registered Democrat it is too late to change your affiliation for this election but not for the November election.
