The Ayatollah Khomeini said while he was alive that the goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran was to export the Islamic Revolution Globally. To say Iran(the people) hate us and support the Mullahs is absurd. Millions have gone to the streets protesting the stolen elections. Iranians, a majority, hate the Shah, and hate this regime too. In one of the videos I just posted a little while , the Iranian gov. spokesman who introduced Ahmedenijad was very clear that there shall be no friendly relations between their governments(not that we should have war, that should be the last option and isn't desirable, but friendship is unrealistic), so I wouldn't take what he said to the Western Media as truth. He is just trying to build up sympathy in the west.

Sure, any theocratic regime is going to be afraid of westernization and they continually stuggle with that daily because the Iranian people are the most pro-western and modern in that part of the world. The Japanese feel the same way which is why they usually dont let their executives in their US companies reside for more than a few years here before calling them home. The only religious trolls are ruling Iran(I am not religious, and the only context in which I have talked about religion is in relation to the Iranian regime), and they have sympathizers on this board. Officials in our government have kept the option of military strike on the table only because the Iranian regime has used violent rhetoric, refused formal talks, and refused to disable their nuclear program.

And stop using they, if by they you mean the Iranian people. The majority of Iranian people hate the Mullahs like I do, and want democratic secular government. And the hate by the Mullahs towards our country, is illogical, irrational, and based in fundamentalist intolerance.

Iran historically is not an aggressive country. Even if they do develop nuclear weapons they are not dumb enough to use them except as a last resort for self defense, because it would be suicide and they know it. If the US or Israel attack Iran it will be economic suicide for both nations. Iran has the power to shut down the oil supply moving through the Strait of Hormuz. Actually, we found stockpiles of chemical weapons in Iraq, and as I said before, Saddam forced Mahdi Obeidi to keep nuclear centrifuges in his backyard. So they were certainly on their way, and that is good enough for me. And the fact that he also sponsored Palestinian terrorism and harbored the first world Trade center bomber and allowed Al Qaeda leader Musab Al Zarqawi safe haven in Iraq with Ansar Al Islam to suppress and kill kurds just makes the case stronger.

Plenty of non religious people care about religious memes, we non religious have to deal with them everyday, and in this case, they threaten our existence.
