Second PATRIOT Act Vote on Monday! - Contact Congress!

There is some equivalent to an amendment going on now that would make the gvmt more responsive - nix the you can't talk about national security letters part and expedite civil rights suites against the gvmt. Looks like a pure party line vote - ie: loose as the dems are pushing it. Then the "recommit" - ie: renewing the 3 objectionable provisions for a year. 15 min vote followed by 5 min vote.

I just got home trying to see where we are at. Hope everyone called on this. It is one of my line in the sand.

I knew looking at the vote count right now this was not the final passage I am sad to say

speaker: frantically looking at queue cards) "now what"?

I just wish one of them had the balls to step on the floor and say: "Whoever voted Yea is a traitor to our constitution and should be taken outside and shot."

According to the Constitution, I think that is supposed to be our job.... but good luck trying it!

Those republicans that voted "Yea" on the Patriot Act extension represent the block of the GOP that will never allow Ron Paul anywhere near the nomination.

Yeah, but 27 Republicans voting "no" is quite an improvement over last year and the years before. Hopefully that positive trend will continue.
