Screw Rush if they don't want Rand playing their music....

I was just reading an interview with David Byrne and I thought he did an excellent job explaining why he not only doesn't want his music used for commercial

I can understand that. But for them to have a problem with Rand quoting a line from one of their songs to get a point across.....that seems a bit much to me...

Maybe. But it's also one of those things where next time a different politician wants to go a little farther they say "but hey you let Rand do this..." So to avoid that it's a zero tolerance policy and they go after anyone political who does stuff with their songs.

Or maybe they're just trying to get their name out there and stay relevant by doing stuff like this. I'm more aware of them now then I was a week ago - so it worked in that regard.

Either way it's not something of great importance. It's a mini version of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 controversy. There may have been some points to be made about the law, and maybe Rush is out of line here but it's all a distraction. There are important issues here that matter to the people of Kentucky and Rand is the person that can represent them and their issues best. Those are the issue we aught to be discussing.

Where did they say they had a problem with him quoting lines from their song? I don't see how that could violate any copyright law.

More possible Rand Paul theme music/victory speech into music:

I am inclined to see lots of free market symbolism here. And Spirituality. Notice the footage of we scruffy Paul supporters early in video scurrying about very agitated by the Federal Reserve monolith (from 0:20 to 0:24).

At this point, Im not sure what to think anymore. I can understand not wanting your music being involved in politics, but filing a lawsuit seems kinda dickish to me. Its disappointing that they're doing this. Is it really that big of a deal? They're one of my favorite bands, so this is really heartbreaking to see them do this. It just looks bad.

Also, Im sure if they just politely asked Rand to stop playing their music, he would have. They didn't have to file an f'n lawsuit. :(

I was contemplating seeing them in concert later this year (Moving Pictures in its entirety :O!) but maybe that potential ticket purchase will have to go to Rand's campaign instead to keep things in balance if the suit moves forward Country first.

Yeah, you're a huge Rush fan. :p

But seriously, I'm not shocked that the band doesn't want a political campaign using their music. It doesn't really bother me either.

But to ease the mood here, how about we allow the holy trio to take us to another land...

So was I, at the MN State Fair... I'll be spending my $120 elsewhere.
