Screenshots of the MSM's webpages. (Open Project)

I may be able to throw something together, but I'm not sure how we'd go about automatically reporting the "offending" screencaps. Perhaps users of the site vote on the offending caps -- both standalone (e.g. the Politico shot above) and comparisons (first you see it, now you don't). What do you guys think?

Any ideas for a domain name? If someone can get that and maybe a VPS (like slicehost.com), I'll build it.

Just screenshots of about 50 different important webpages on a daily or maybe even hourly basis.

I want to reference back to them post election, I'm sure they will be very educational.

Referencing them is key, voting may be beneficial but not a focus.

Hey Josh, maybe this idea can be used on the blackthisout site? If this can be an automated script, we could archive them on that page as they come in. I'll check with freejack, if it seems like a good idea.

This needs to be documented.

Can we come up with a software program that automatically takes screenshots of the front page of the MSM's websites and their main Politics sections?

The bias is staggering and unless you see the web pages, it's going to go down the memory hole.

Someone want to run with this?

Works like a charm.
Josh if you create a list of sites to screengrab I will do it. Do you want the entire page screengrabbed?Do you want just a portion of the screen grabbed? Just detail it. Its so simple my grandma could use screengrab..so I encourage everyone to do it and we can all send our screengrabs to an email account if you create an email account specifically for it.

I want like 50 different screenshots at 4 hour intervals.

I use screengrab already, but it is not automated.

I don't have many intentions yet. There are many ways that the data could be presented.

Alright Ill start screengrabbing today on every ron paul article and poll and MSM sight.

This particular project needs to be automated, but I appreciate the enthusiasm.

50+ pages, not specific articles, but homepages of news sites as well as their politic specific sections at four hour intervals.

I have to meet with one of my programmers today. I might see if he has any way of doing this. He's basically got his whole workflow at his job being done by robots. Clever bastid.

Fox really loves Santorum allover their page..no pun intended. What is up with Sarah Palins hand? Its nearly doing a devil horn lol but shes probably in the middle of waving her fingers.

What exactly do you want screen grabs of... the entire page? I'm not sure if grabbing the entire page would result in copyright attacks by the media companies or not.

I get exactly what Josh is wanting. We don't need screenshots of Ron Paul articles. Just screenshots, documentation, of what the news web sites looked like throughout the 2012 campaign. What they were covering. Who they WEREN'T covering. Like post 33 from Captain America. Otherwise, as Josh says, there will be no record.

Consider the research groups that automatically count name mentions on national TV, whose work has shown Ron Paul is not getting mentioned hardly at all. What if no one was counting? We'd have no evidence of what was going on. If we have 4 months of cnn.com homepage screenshots, then we have evidence: "hey, they only even had Ron Paul's name on the front page 10 times in four months; they featured Thaddeus McCotter 870 times", stuff like that. It's just to archive the pages initially, just to save what otherwise is unrecoverable (archive.org doesn't save daily). Then the data can be sifted through and conclusions can be drawn.

This wouldn't be to hard to handle honestly, I have setup some procedures in my business that automate this type of task. All that is needed is to run an imacro or winautomation to auto refresh the website and then take a screen capture. I'm pretty sure i could integrate into a dropbox account and publish the screenshots public so they could be seen. Ill check into it, busy day for me running my business and if you don't hear anything from me in the next couple days shoot me a PM.

Thank you, Texas! Wow, way to jump right in and step up! Welcome to the forums.
