WAUKESHA, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, who built a national conservative following by crippling public employee unions and then defeating a forceful effort to recall him, announced on Monday that he is running for president as a Washington outsider whose taste for big fights would lead to a smaller federal government.

Mr. Walker is the 15th prominent Republican to formally start his campaign, doing so at a time of growing challenges for him, especially in Iowa. He considers it a must-win state in the presidential nominating process, which begins there in February.

I could see Walker calculating a move to make Rand his VP. Honestly, I think he's the nominee.

Expect him to get a bump. Especially in Iowa.

For no other reason than the media will say his name a few times.

I honestly can't see the GOP putting forth a ticket with two white males. If a white male is at the top of the ticket expect either a woman or Rubio.

The GOP is rallying behind Bush. They aren't that bright. I could honestly see people like Romney saying no we need to appeal to the independent/libertarian base somewhat or we will never win another election. Also, I don't think they will have a governor/governor ticket. All the female choices for the exception of Carly are governors right?

Now he's in and the gloves come off. Walker has enjoyed a spot above the fray until now. Personally, I can't wait until they ask him the "Trump question". I expect him to blow himself up on that one.

in my opinion, he is already on his way out and his highest numbers will always be from when he was not an announced candidate

I agree. At least one on the ticket will be a minority, and good chance the VP pick will be a woman. Particularly if Hillary is the D nominee.

The establishment is split two ways. The Bush folk of course are behind Jeb. The others want a Walker/Rubio ticket, whoever is on top of the ticket they don't care.

If they don't care, does that mean you see Walker as an establishment guy?

Walker was pushing supply side economics and the Laffer Curve in his speech. I was not impressed.

Scott Walker sure does resemble GWB's eyes and ears.

Could it be that it is the same Walker family, as GHWB/GWB?

Naaa, couldn't be. ;)
