No I wouldn't advise it for everyone.
I've had alot of practice at my "shock and Aw" political tactics, my dad is a big businessman, and I play in a rock band... But at the same time, I love business, economics, and politics.... and have never bowed to societies demands for me. I figure I will in a few years, after the young wares off of me. Then after everyone already knows me and sees the transformation... yeah... lol

I imagine the best thing you've got going for you in this situation is that most of those folks have a son, grandson, or nephew who's your age and dresses the same way. They'll be really impressed to hear your seriousness coming out of some scruffy kid...

Know your audience- and if you don't have a good idea what kind of person you are talking to, keep the nutty stuff to yourself- stick to the basics.

First impressions mean alot, but if you can include a shock factor with it, it makes more of an impact and gives even older voters a "I can make him better" syndrome. (the kind you find with girls you pick bad boyfriends)

Thankyou so much, actualy... I have one set of grandparents that attend all my meetings, but the other set doesn't care. The funny thing is the ones that done go are the ones that claim to be the most "patriotic"

I could never say that, because to me it would be a lie. Lets face it, there are a lot of GOD AWFUL Republicans these days. For those who need a reminder that Republicans can be evil or criminally inept (depending on your point of view), I'll just toss out the names George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz...

For most of my life, I bought the "Republicans are the lesser of 2 evils" argument and always voted for the Republican, no matter how bad I knew he was. Even when the Republicans demonstrated that they were just as bad, and sometimes worse, than the Democrats, I continued to con myself into believing that Republicans were the "lesser evil."

I won't do it anymore. I simply will NOT vote for a bad Republican just because he's a Republican. I'll vote third party, or in rare cases even vote for a Democrat whom I know to be a good person.

I'm through with voting for evil SOBs just because they have an "R" next to their name!
