Speaking to a crowd of Iowans in Sioux City just yesterday about entitlement reform, Santorum said:
He added: "I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money."

He then goes on to state that he wants them to be able to work instead of depend on the government, but really, why specifically mention black people?

He may do well in Iowa, but he just sank his chances of going further. Imagine the field day Obama would have with this one in the future.

A review of a clearer version of the video, however, casts serious doubt on whether Santorum actually said “black people’s lives.”

CBS News has posted a cleaner version of Santorum’s remarks, and it seems as though Santorum did not actually say “black people’s lives,” but rather, that he stumbled in mid-sentence with a verbal tic that sounded like that.

“I don’t want to make…mmbligh…people’s lives better” is what it sounds like to me

Thanks, I posted this at another board too, will inform them it could be an error on CBS' part.

I listened to it 5 times sound like he said black every time, even when I tried to mentally hear Bligh.

I was really trying to hear the "verbal tic" version but it really sounds like he said "black people's lives". I don't like Santorum but I heard it with my own ears. If the media is saying he didn't say it, and it's the same media that's been propping him up and lying about everything constantly well, I'm going to have to hear the "better audio" version.

The media is their own enemy. They've lied so much we don't have any reason to believe anything they say now, even if it's true.

To the media: Regarding integrity, um, do you have any?

his mouth appears to me as if he is saying "black" but CBS's "cleaner" version jumbled it to take that word out of it.

I am a life long resident of Pennsylvania. And former Pa. Senator Rick Santorum (at least when he's not living in his mansion in Leesburg,Va.) claims to be a resident of Pa. I most definitively heard what he said in the video, and he said " black people's lives" . And he WAS using his signature Pa. accent. There is absolutely NO doubt in my opinion that he pointed out blacks are who receive the greatest amount of
entitlement money.

Sounded like black to me. I know it would have been black to CBS if RP said it.
