Santorum is planning on fighting us at the convention

Yeah... I'm pretty sure drug war is not going to help us at the RNC. They will think we are all drug eating, peace loving, hippies. I don't know anyone that has drug legalization as a priority, unless they smoke weed (like my 3 housemates).

I just hope we don't oversell ourselves. Only say what "enemy" delegates want to hear... stay with real issues like ECONOMY, SOCIAL SECURITY/MEDICARE, BORDERS... try to avoid abortions, gay rights, drugs, prostitution, etc etc.

Well, from what I understand it was never one of Ron's major issues either, it's just something the media likes to use to smear him with and avoid talking about the big issues which Ron talks about anytime he speaks.

I wouldn't bring up abortions or gay marriage, but if it's brought up what have we to be afraid of? Ron is pro-life and believes marriage is between a man and woman.

The massive failure we call the drug war IS a big issue. It has done for more to kill civil liberties than an supposed terrorists ever did. It keeps us meddling in south america, and causes unmeasurable amounts of violent crime as well as state violence against the citizenry. I don't think it gets any traction at the RNC, and so not useful there, but I don't see how anyone thinks it isn't a big issue.

At least Ron and Rand are destroying the future argument that Ron Paul cost Romney the Presidency. That claim hurt Ross Perot's movement.

If Romney somehow loses the Presidency, he's only got himself to blame. The whole corporate world and their media are falling over themselves trying to win him the Presidency.

He'd be the Mark Sanchez of presidential candidates.

I doubt Santorum has much to do with 'Santorum plans' as far as this election is concerned. These are the guys whose idea of fighting is to speak into a microphone to a room full of people who have their backs turned, as security decides they are too far gone to take orders from.

I was wondering that, too. And also, how many alternates are Ron Paul? Perhaps Santorum delegates won't want to waste the time and money. I would love to see the Santorum delegation voting for Ron Paul.
 
I posted this in opposing candidates. He is speaking today at the Texas GOP convention trying to forclose Ron from getting delegates. I don't know if he will draw people there who weren't there yesterday, or not. I hope not.

It sounds like someone gave him money, imho to block Ron on foreign policy or at least make it a fight where the neocons can cast the final vote. I'm sure those supporting him are thinking of social issues, but that isn't why he'd be given money, if I am right that he has been given it.

It is also to gear up the moral majority and get them to show up for a convention where they don't care about the nominee, and is likely why the Louisiana caucus is now called 'disputed'. Romney's credentials committees may be the ones making these decisions. Which brings me back to thinking of Rand, to be honest.

But as for the moral majority, they have a ton of more pure leaders than Santorum. I wonder if he will still have five states to do business at RNC? Because if not, he will need at least a coalition to get work done. and the moral majority delegates could follow anyone, it wouldn't have to be Santorum.

It is pure speculation. I told you I am withholding judgment there but don't like yesterday. I could not think of any reason, period, why he would back Romney BEFORE convention. Then this morning I thought some might think we would need Romney's good will to get things we want, positions to control events going forward, at convention, credentials committee backing in LA, Mass etc, and if Romney was in doubt about Rand's eventual endorsement he might not give it. If this is about control of the GOP, not the nomination, there has been reportedly been a faction of the Romney team who would just as soon we took it over, given the demographics are with us. Ron can't and won't give up on us, so can't 'give up' on the nomination, and I don't honestly think people expect him to endorse Romney, but Rand..... maybe...? He had already said he would 'support the nominee'.....

I just keep questioning the "timing" of events. If Rand had waited until Monday, the Texas convention would not be effected by his endorsement. Just like the letters right before a set of primaries and conventions where we controlled a lot of clout.
This is what bothers me so much, is the very serious bad timing.

Yeah, I agree on the timing. I'm not saying this is the case.

But, man, Texas saw Ron's speech, or most of them. I can't imagine a soul there thinks Ron gave up.
