CHIPIN: Run Radio Ads in Aspen During Busy Christmas Season

Help us run radio ads on local radio to reach potential local supporters as well as some well-healed potential vacationing supporters during the busiest time of year here in the Aspen area. Our priorities are to spread Ron Paul's name recognition, increase awareness of Ron Paul's positions, and to let the locals know that our group is here for them to join and help with our cause.

The radio station does production in house and can have commercials on the air in a day or two, while the Christmas crowd is still in town and in time to reach the New Year's crowd. As importantly, we'll reach the commuting locals to join our group so they can help us with the important phone and door-to-door work in the coming weeks before our caucus.

The chipin total is wrong since I've contributed the first $100 but given the nature of chipin.com I can't contribute money to myself. Therefore, I'll end the chipin at $400 instead of $500.

Stretching our advertising dollars

Guys, this is one of the best stretches of our advertising dollars. Not only will we help to secure a couple more counties for Ron Paul by recruiting local volunteers and delegates, but we'll also reach folks with lots of money to donate. It's a win-win.
And the first $100 is on me.

Aspen is one of the most affluent cities in the US. Median house prices are over 1 million.

It would be an effective place to attract some big donors! This advertising campaign is a good concept because Aspen attracts people from all over the nation this time of year.

Yup. A lot of locals like myself are anything but wealthy but we can reach a demographic that is quite well off and has plenty to donate to political causes that listens to the same radio and tv that we do. That, plus we get to hit up vacationers that can afford to vacation here, which ain't cheap. This is pretty targeted advertising as that goes.
Plus, we could really use the local coverage to grow our meetup numbers so that we can canvass by foot and by phone to reach our area residents. The GOP caucuses are sparsely attended here. We have a real opportunity to deliver a couple of our valley counties to Ron Paul if we can get the word out.

I'll do $25 in the morning, I promise, I'm on dial-up right now, thing takes forever.

Thanks

Yeah, I had dial-up for years. I decided to trade my cable tv bill for a high speed internet bill and it's been a more than fair trade. Slow loading drives me nuts.

Thanks a lot for the contribution.

I'll find out

does it matter if i chipin from europe ?

Excellent question. Truth is, I have no idea. I'm looking into forming a PAC this coming week and I'll try to get an answer to that question. I'd love to say just go ahead, but I really don't want either of us to get into hot water with the FEC over it (although you'd probably have less to worry about than I, since I doubt they extradite over such things ;)).

I'm starting to realize why so few participate in the political process: they do make it complicated. I see this as one of the most advantageous fallouts from the Ron Paul Revolution; a whole bunch of us who have been previously uninvolved are learning our way around the political process. Win or lose, that has to have a bunch of the old guard shaking in their boots.

better than nothing i guess

blimpin ,hey guys this group is legit,it expanded out of the snowboarders/skiers for Ron Paul, please help the group

I'll be in for Aspen Radio Ads

In for $200 if you post the script and I find it reasonable. Can you place the spot near the ski report?

I think this is a great idea on many levels. One is that Aspen is full of market-oriented (aka rich) people who think they should be left alone, such as the deceased libertarian writer Hunter Thompson.

I also like the idea of a simple, dynamic project. Raising $50,000 in two weeks for TV ads to cover 10% of a state feels daunting and like it is so much money it needs more due diligence. I doubt anyone is running to Mexico with $400.

As far as PAC legalities, have you considered working with an existing PAC? For example, the Boston Tea Party PAC is now raising funds to pay for a rally in New Hampshire. Maybe they would consider adopting you so they could provide the legal structure so this doesn't have to be a problem. If not, maybe another exisitng (or newly formed) PAC would start doing this so we don't need a new PAC for every little project.
