RULE CHANGE: 8 States needed to be put into Nomination

We have to make sure they know it, imho. the campaign is dead wrong. we can't let them get away with this or it will never end. But we can talk about it after Tampa.

They're going to "get away" with this regardless of whether or not we "let" them. The fact of the matter remains - this is going to take a LONG time. We made amazing strides this year, but we still didn't win the popular vote in the primaries and caucuses. Until we do that, and eventually we will, the party will "steal" these victories from us.

If you accept this thinking then there is absolutely zero hope in anything...why bother every voting?

2012 was our best shot. And they came down with the fist of tyranny on us, and the complicit media ignored it. If you think the Libertarian party has any chance of winning anything against the two party system, you're out of your mind. The same type of people that control the GOP control the machinations of the general elections too. If we were ever big enough, they'd just make sure technicalities kept us off the ballot.

They're going to keep changing the rules no matter how many "gains" people here think we've made. And it won't end here. If more "gains" are made by 2016, they will only raise the bar higher to freeze us out again.

True that.

When you try to use the rules against the rule makers, you'll never win. They already tried changing the minimum plurality count to 10, but the motion failed by 1 vote. Just take a look at the last Reality Check video on the homepage...

Exactly! People want to beat someone in a game when they give themselves the power to change the rules. If Ron Paul were to run 3rd party, that would be the start of a legitimate 3rd party. He has the base to be a legitimate threat to the 2 party system. It's a shame he doesn't take advantage of that and take us off this Team Red vs. Team Blue bullshit.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (and get called a troll again by BTL ...nah, I don't really care about that) but this is probably why nothing will ever change.

Does anybody ever wonder WHY it's impossible to run a successful Libertarian campaign? That's the power the Dems and the GOP have. Now do you really think they're going to just sit by while we take things over from within (or whatever people here want to call it)? No, they won't. They're bigger than the people who take party chairmanship positions...I firmly believe all those corporations that spend millions donating to the DNC and RNC send orders down the pipe. If you don't play along, you won't play at all. If we could make inroads, the LP would be able to make inroads as well. They're going up against the same brick wall we are.

You're wrong.

For the 500th time, the instant we bring more people into the party than they do, we will win. The ONLY reason they can make these is changes is that there are more of them than us. That's it. That's party politics in a nutshell.

Ron Paul won 10% of the GOP vote in 2012. So assume that means 1 out of 10 Republicans are Ron Paul supporters. With these numbers, what do you expect? The only thing we have to do to take control is to bring in more people. That's all there is to it.

"But AJ, they will cheat us no matter what!"

Wrong. They can only get away with cheating if we don't have enough people. Once we have enough people, then WE will be the ones serving on ALL the rules committees. Once we have enough people, they flat out won't be able to change the rules anymore. The rules will be ours.

+REP AJ! We will bring the numbers! AND take this party from the corrupt bastards!

The naive attitude of one RPF member.

Does it make sense at this point to take over the Libertarian party and to then use the grassroots to start winning elections? The R's have wised up to what we were doing and are circling the wagons.

no - but the LP has a pretty credible candidate running for President.

So, try to get him elected if you want. No need "take over the Libertarian Party" it's fine. It's not a party that actually wins elections. But it would give Ron Paul supporters something to do for the next few months.

You might as well get used to this process. I wasn't wringing my hands about the outcome of the LP Primaries or whatever they use to pick their candidate.

Stick with the GOP, replace every single piece one by one with our people. Or just trash it.

Until the LP has serious problems getting enough candidates on the ballot, it's a pretty good protest vote. So's the Constituionalist Party.

You can argue about this that or the other thing, whether LP, CP or write in Ron Paul is the way to go.

WE won a chair position of Arlington County with 80 percent of the vote. The tide is turning in Virginia. We won't give up until we control the entire party in Virginia.

NO the libertarian party will never get elected. This proves we need to be more united and organized in the future. We did not have enough people on the rules committee. We are probably out numbered 10:1.

People on the rules committee, delegates overall, etc.

As opposed to your ideology of "taking over" the GOP while they change the rules to keep that very thing from happening. The world as you see it today is not how it will be tomorrow. There are more registered independents than registered Democrats or Republicans. If you continue believing Team Red will magically change one day and accept you. Good Luck, I sincerely wish you the best.

I rather go after the independent then try and change the mentality of Team Red or Team Blue. Your logical fallacies astound me.

No one thinks that Team Red is going to change. Each and every seat we have to fight for. And we got a long way to go, but in many cases it isn't that hard.

We continue on the GOP route, we also have the advantage of removing those GOP people. With LP, they're all still there.

.

I moved to Switzerland. Many parties, and you can remove any law if you have enough signatures.

Come join me, before it is too late! I was hoping RP, or the movement tied to him would right the U.S. eventually. However looking at it from outside, I realize that will not happen, not without bloodshed unfortunately.

There really is no hope left for the United States...I am getting too the point where I am starting to avoid U.S. news sites, because it is getting too depressing hearing about what is happening to the country I loved.

Ask Pat Buchannan how far he has gotten with that whole "social conservative" thing? The GOP has been paying lip service to the evangelicals for over 2 decades now and nothing has changed. Even when George Bush was president and had both the house and the senate, nothing happened for them.

You of course believe things will magically change just because you want it to? Look at the writing on the wall. This movement staying in the GOP will result in one of 2 things, the death of the movement due to the GOP changing it's rules at every turn. Or the movement gets co-opted which means they will say they are for liberty but not do a damn thing about it. Just ask the evangelicals how their attempt at "taking over" the GOP is going lol

Buchanan isn't really a social conservative. Well, he is if Ron Paul is. Ron Paul is 100% Pro Life as he defines it. Buchanan's a populist conservative.

The best tactic right now is for Ron to attach himself in some way to the Libertarian ticket. With the understood warning to the GOP that Rand is prepared to do the same in 2016.

LOL GOP. I wonder when enough people will wake up and realize they don't want you, and they don't care about the rules. You can't win their game. Use the party insofar as it helps, and that goes for all of em, but for gods sake don't fucking pussify yourselves and sell out in order to 'cozy' up or 'play by the rules' to try and 'get ahead'. Shit don't work, never has, never will. If it did work, they'd quickly change whatever rules necessary.

It's a small club, and guess what...you ain't invited.
