Here is Hot Air's fake libertarian*, AllahPundit, on the matter:

*And being more fair to him than he has ever been to Paul, I'll mention that the libertarian label is largely one the SoCon commenters on the site have given him. In reality, the guy is just a typical moderate NY Republican with a few libertarian leanings on some issues.

That really was a pussy-ass "punch". Not only in its strength but that it was a sucker-pussy-ass punch, and even more so for the guy running away after giving it like a giant pussy. Its hard to say how I would have reacted in that situation. I wouldn't have been hurt, I definitely would have been upset and wanted to kick the dudes ass as he ran away; but at the same time if he had followed and beaten the guy down its quite likely that he would have been the one facing charges...
I definitely wouldn't be posting about it online like it was devastating, I would be mocking the fucker.
Hard to tell, but it looks like Yob was starting to film the Rubio operatives with his phone, they noticed and quickly left the area which "provoked" the attack?
Laugh in the guys face and buy him a beer, he wouldn't know how fast to apologize. That's what I've done in a similar situation.
Andrew Kaczynski (buzzfeed) is such a twat. He's calling Yob a pussy basically for not hitting back (which may or may not be true), and saying that it reflects Rand's foreign policy. This guy never misses a chance to try and throw shade at Rand. I guarantee you that had roles been reversed he would be jumping up and down denouncing Rand saying that his campaign is a mess and his staff out of control.
looks like it was the woman that provoked it, she pointed him out right before it happened.
looks like it was the woman that provoked it, she pointed him out right before it happened.
Looking at it closely it's mistaken identity. The guy taking the photo (and getting poked by the woman for doing so) moves behind Yob just as the aggressor turns around to see who the woman is mad at, the actual guy she was mad at is by this point standing behind Yob, and Yob gets punched in the face.
Thats what it looks like to me.
INTERNAL EMAILS: RUBIO CAMPAIGN MANAGER INITIALLY ‘GLAD’ AIDE SUCKER PUNCHED RAND STAFFER, NOW ADMITS WAS WRONG
18 Sep 2015
The campaign manager for Sen. Marco Rubio, Terry Sullivan, initially approved of the violence his deputy Rich Beeson engaged in on Thursday evening at a bar in Mackinac Island, Michigan.
Emails obtained by Breitbart News show that Sullivan—Rubio’s most senior campaign aide—told Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)93%
campaign strategist John Yob that he was “glad” Beeson sucker punched him in the Michigan bar.
“Hey man you better wake up. Beeson punched me in the face. Cops involved,” Yob wrote in an email to Sullivan at 12:51 a.m. about the incident.
In response at 12:57 a.m., Sullivan endorsed the violent act Beeson allegedly conducted—and taunted Yob.
“Well that if you were talking shit I’m glad he did,” Sullivan said. “Besides. We need more space and wanna take over your townhouse when Rand is done.”
“Alright dude,” Yob wrote in response at 1:02 a.m.
After it became clear on Friday morning, however, that this was a serious matter—and that Michigan police were investigating Beeson’s actions—Sullivan wrote a response to Yob apologizing to him for his tone on Thursday evening.
“Hey John, I assumed you were kidding when you sent this last night. Guess I was wrong. Sorry I didn’t realize it was a real situation,” Sullivan wrote to Yob.
“I am pressing charges and hereby calling on Marco Rubio to fire Rich Beeson. The video will be online shortly,” Yob wrote back to Sullivan.
Yob told Breitbart News that he appreciates Sullivan admitting Beeson’s actions were deplorable.
“I appreciate Terry Sullivan’s change of heart this morning on the assault by his staff member and it is understandable that he would have initially thought that this was too crazy to actually be true,” Yob said in a statement. “The Rubio campaign is not to blame. Today I hope that he and Senator Rubio will take action on this matter as the state police investigate.”
Neither Sullivan nor Rubio communications director Alex Conant have responded to a request for comment on this matter.
Rich Beeson, the deputy campaign manager for the presidential campaign of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), has a history of alleged acts of violence.
The former communications director for the Arizona Republican Party, Brett Mecum, posted on Facebook about an incident in 2007 where Beeson allegedly assaulted him. Police weren’t involved, but Beeson was forced by the Republican National Committee (RNC)—where he served as political director—to apologize to Mecum and attend anger management classes.

Normally I don't post this stuff, but when I saw the article and happen to know both gentlemen involved, I felt obligated.
In 2007, when I served as Communications Director of the Arizona Republican Party, Rich Beeson physically assaulted me when he served as the Political Director of the Republican National Committee. I discussed the matter with RNC Counsel, I did not file a police report. My understanding is that the Chairman of the RNC was involved, and I was assured that Mr Beeson would be disciplined. He ultimately apologized to me in person, which was clearly a forced apology. I was told by others that he had to attend anger management classes, if that was the case, then it is obvious those classes didn't help. What Mr. Beeson did to Mr. Yob is a continued pattern of this kind of unacceptable behavior.
