Let's try to get a list going to determine which RTCs have endorsed which candidate. There are approximately 169 incorporated "towns" in Connecticut (which includes cities), but the number of active RTCs are probably half that number.

Linda McMahon picked up the endorsement of the Ridgefield Republican Town Committee last night according to a friend who is a voting RTC member and fellow Schiff supporter. Here was his report:

Unfortunately, the Ridgefield RTC endorsed McMahon last night. I made a pitch against but the vote came out 9 in favor, 3 opposed (2 stated a preference for Schiff including me, 1 preferred Simmons) and 3 abstentions. It certainly wasn't rock solid and while I wish they endorsed Schiff I think it is better McMahon than Simmons but to me it just shows a lack of interest in hard issues which is unfortunate. Although, I know several people who voted for her aren't crazy about her but don't care for Simmons or Schiff (or don't know him).

At the end of the day I'm not sure how much these endorsements mean although I would rather get them than not and they probably would help Peter in particular since he's a party outsider. I think McMahon has become the new front runner.

I feel like our campaign is finally started to pick up steam with the commercials and I think the debate increased name recognition, but as expected we have an uphill battle.

There is a RTC in every single town (169) in Connecticut. This is shown at www.everydayrepublican.com/ct_locator where websites for each RTC (most have one, some do not) and contact info can be found.

Even if your RTC has already endorsed a candidate you should get involved (politely contact the Chairperson requesting to attend the next meeting or event as an interested voter) and can still influence delegates before the May convention and August primary.

RTC's pick delegates to the convention. The endorsements are supposed to act as guidance for the delegates. A candidate with over 50% of the convention vote becomes the nominee of the party. Any candidate with over 15% of the vote on any convention ballot has the right to primary. A candidate can also go the petition route to primary. Conventional wisdom is that Linda will do well in the western part of the state (which tends to be the most Republican area of the state) while Rob will do well in the eastern part of the state (which he used to represent in Congress). Peter is the great unknown. He might be able to pick up delegates in Fairfield County (which is nearest N.Y and Wall St) from Linda or he might be a "compromise" pick in central Connecticut in the battle ground between Linda and Rob. I admit that might be more wishful thinking on my part than reality.

I think he has Enfield and Woodbury too, or am I wrong?

I updated the list. Simmons started reporting his committee endorsements on his site, Schiff should do the same.

Can anyone confirm Enfield and Woodbury?

I thought Woodbury was just speculation from a forum member that he thought Schiff had a good chance. I looked the day after their RTC, and could never find out if they endorsed anyone.

Well, Ron Judson, the Woodbury RTC Chair has endorsed McMahon... I don't know if pressuring them for an endorsement would ultimately help Linda instead of Peter.

Woodbury was confirmed to me by a member of the RTC. They endorsed Schiff over McMahon. 7 delegates for Schiff. They voted the day after the forum in Woodbury. It hasn't been announced yet.

Did Ridgefield RTC get a chance to hear from Peter before endorsing? If not, how many of Simmons' and McMahon's endorsements fall into this category? Where was Peter during their meetings?


(BTW, I see I'm a "new member" despite joining 2 1/2 years ago. This is only my third post here but I've made thousands of posts over at DP. I'm here now because RPF is doing a better job following the Schiff campaign. Nice work everyone!)

I'm naturally burning with curiosity over how the endorsement effort is going. Is anyone keeping tabs on when the various RTC's are expected to endorse, or which RTC's have heard from all candidates?

I'm quite certain that some of these town committees are endorsing Linda over Peter simply because they think her fortune may be useful in winning a general election campaign.
