The Gambling issue is a bad one to pick. Why should Kentucky allow gambling? Remember if Gambling is passed it is not going to be an Open Market. The state will collude with a cartel of companies and monied few to operate probably something low brow like VLTs. We will not get classy Vegas Style Casinos in places like Turfway or Keeneland. Gambling is not about saving horses, it is a money grab. Why should we reward Frankfort with the inevitable revenue that the state will get from their cut? So they can create even more programs that will ever expand and then eventually need more revenue streams to support their bloat? If the state was serious about saving horses they could cut the tax on paramutual wagers. Purses would then increase. But you will never hear anyone offer that solution.
Drug war, well we all know this is Gatewoods strong suit. However remember Gatewood is still an old style democrat when it comes to many forms of government spending. For every moral issue you might bring up for Moffett I can give you 2 issues of government largess that Gatewood has supported over the years. Don't forget Gatewoods prime education platform of shaking the money tree to the tune of I believe 5K every year for every student in kentucky who can string a sentence together on the KERA portfolio.
