RP on the Tonight Show

Hey guys Jay Leno just ended his show saying this message ( CANDIDATE RON PAUL GOOD LUCK TO YOU TOMORROW NIGHT), what a great ending for the show, I hope somebody will not forget to record that last part! :)

My girlfriend hates politics in general so i kinda gave up on her for the time being. but she sat down with me while i was watching the tonight show. Although, in the beggining when he came out she did say he kinda looked goofy. while he was talking she started asking me questions about inflation and the war. she was laughing at the stuff he said about rudy, and when the segment was over she said "i like him, he's funny", then she went to bed. She is the most neutral person i know, so to me that is a pretty encouraging interview. Definatly not his best, but for people that haven't had the chance to see his character it might have helped. Especially when Jay said he is being screwed.

I concur, it was a great interview.

Did anyone else think the audience was dumbstuck when Dr. Paul talked about monetary policy and its effect on the dollar? There was silence and no positive response.

Yet, they cheered for the simple concepts he mentioned like ending the War to spend more back home. It must have been because they understood the cause and effect of that policy shift quite easily. I think their brains started to hurt when he talked about more complex things like monetary policy. It's amazing how many Americans still have no clue about this issue.

Agree? Disagree?

People in general have little to no concept of how money works. It is not taught in public school education (some might say intentionally) and is a topic that generally most current generations of Americans have never thought about. Dollars are just dollars, not federal reserve notes or debt to most people, just dollars.

Remember when your Grandma used to tell you that a loaf of bread cost a nickel? I do and I thought very little about it at the time. It took me quite a few years to revisit the issue and actually take the time to understand it. Of course in that time I came across Dr. Paul and his writings and that is why I am a supporter.

When I first got exposed to RP's writings six years ago I was emailed a speech he gave about monetary policy. The subject line of the email I will never forget - This is a politician who gets it.

Yes he does.

am I crazy or...

At first I thought when I heard Ron Paul say that he was going to sue Fox News I thought he was joking.. I watched it a 2nd time and realized he didn't chuckle, and he didn't retract by saying he was joking. Can you imagine the headlines Ron Paul would get in a lawsuit vs Fox News?
Follow me for a second here.. Obviously, if Ron Paul *did* go after fox news and end up with a couple hundred million dollars.. He does not strike me as a person that would keep the cash (win or lose the Presidency) he *DOES* strikes me more as a person who would take that money and fund libertarian minded candidates such as Governors, Senators, Congressmen/women, Ect. in future elections.

Could this be the huge bump that causes more Ron Paul support? I follow everything Ron Paul (like all of you do) and I have heard him give a ton of interviews, speeches, ect. Today on the Leno show, Dr. Paul was outstanding.
I've met Dr. Paul twice, the most recent being on Thursday in Iowa. He was very positive, happy, and truly inspiring - much more so than when I first met him at the Iowa Straw Poll. That attitude very much came through on Leno tonight, and he looked sharp with the red tie and new haircut. I feel that the attention tonight on the campaign, is better for his 'image' than a 6 million dollar money bomb.
Never doubt the power of truth.

Peace.

It was definitely a joke...you cant sue over stuff like that anyway, there'd be no case. It was a good joke.

Sad but true. I've said it before, what he really needs to do is break it down to a 5th grade level. It can't be done in 30 seconds, so it might take breaking out a graph ala Perot. Basic supply-demand applies here, but most people don't have even a basic understanding of that. It also applies to things like minimum wage, which hurts the poor; but people love it.

I don't know about it being a joke.. watch the youtube video again and he makes another mention about fox shortly after that part.. Plus, I'm sure Dr. Paul knows some very libertarian minded lawyers who would love nothing more than a shot at getting Fox News.. They certainly *do* present themselves as fair and balanced, which would be fairly easy to prove otherwise.. and don't forget this article here:

"They will not win this skirmish," he promised.

4real, if it can't be explained at the comic book level, its far too complex for most Americans, especially Liberals.

I thought as a whole the interview went very well. Dr. Paul was a little quirky, but for me it adds to his likeability. Being in Utah, the part about sticking up for Mitt and the Mormon religion will bode very well for him here, where people are and have had a very conservative and constituional background. I sent out 30 text messages to my non aligned politically peeps telling them to tune in. It will be interesting to hear their thoughts.

Great interview overall. Funny thing is, I've never felt proud to have liked someone I've seen interviewed (if you know what I'm saying), but I took pride in being a Ron Paul supporter tonight. And then they brought on one of my favorite comedians! Greatest Leno ever!

Who cheers for a collapsing dollar?
