Congressman Paul's Statement on Supreme Court Obamacare Decision

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Ron Paul issued the following statement on the Supreme Court's decision to uphold most of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

"I strongly disagree with today’s decision by the Supreme Court, but I am not surprised. The Court has a dismal record when it comes to protecting liberty against unconstitutional excesses by Congress.

"Today we should remember that virtually everything government does is a 'mandate.' The issue is not whether Congress can compel commerce by forcing you to buy insurance, or simply compel you to pay a tax if you don’t. The issue is that this compulsion implies the use of government force against those who refuse. The fundamental hallmark of a free society should be the rejection of force. In a free society, therefore, individuals could opt out of “Obamacare” without paying a government tribute.

"Those of us in Congress who believe in individual liberty must work tirelessly to repeal this national health care law and reduce federal involvement in healthcare generally. Obamacare can only increase third party interference in the doctor-patient relationship, increase costs, and reduce the quality of care. Only free market medicine can restore the critical independence of doctors, reduce costs through real competition and price sensitivity, and eliminate enormous paperwork burdens. Americans will opt out of Obamacare with or without Congress, but we can seize the opportunity today by crafting the legal framework to allow them to do so."

Damn, I love this man!

I don't know that I could have said this better or more succinctly.

If he spoke the way he writes, oh man, just imagine how many more eyes would be open right now.

It was said that Thomas Jefferson was very soft-spoken and had a lisp. If the stories are correct, he was so self-conscious about it, that when speaking, he was almost inaudible. However, he was a master with the pen.

Could you imagine if he was around today? He wouldn't have a prayer. I'm just glad we have someone like Ron who, while he's not a perfect deliverer, he's able to wake up millions.

Now he should follow that with another paragraph about the GOP and Romney and what we should expect from them about that. And then ask Convention delegates bound to Romney to weigh in the incompetence of both with respect to freeing the economy to grow freely again. And then ask for their vote for him during nomination.

Oh, absolutely, I agree with you on that.

Its unfortunate he's leaving Congress, we really need him for 2 more years. But he's earned his retirement, can't begrudge him for wanting to get out of that rats nest.

This could be our door. We have to go full force and prove that Romney will do nothing to repeal Obamacare. We have to convince the delegates that either Obama/Romney in the whitehouse, means Obamacare lives. There is still time. For Liberty.

In my future, he's not retiring for at least another four years.

There's the solution:

Only free market medicine can restore the critical independence of doctors, reduce costs through real competition and price sensitivity, and eliminate enormous paperwork burdens.

I VOW NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN FASCISTCARE.

What sucks for me is I was strongly considering getting insurance for medicalcare..just like I refused medicade and opted to cary my own weight costing me more then I cann afford
..I will continue to sacrifice until I have nothing to give or a moral system based on freedom of the individual comes to be.

About a month ago when he came to the MN GOP Convention (anti) War Room I asked him what he was going to do in retirement. He said he hadn't thought about it, but that he was probably going to be doing more of the same... traveling the country, doing rallies, giving speeches, promoting the cause. :D
