I agree with the article as a whole. I disagree with this point though:
I mean, I hear what the guy is saying, but Ron has already almost doubled his poll numbers since '08. It would have been more accurate if he said that Paul wouldn't raise much more in the polls from where he is now. But already, '08 and '12 are night and day with regards to the size of his support base.
It is absolutely right though to say that whether or not Ron goes higher than where he is now is almost entirely up to him. Obviously the media doesn't help, but Ron and the campaign can force media attention by refining his delivery a little better and calling out his opponents in their inconsistency on domestic issues and ignorance on foreign policy matters. It is up to Ron -and Ron alone- to get where he needs to be to win. We are all pulling for him, no matter what. If he plays the game just enough to use it against his opponents, and show the country who THEY really are vs. who HE really is, he will run away with it.
It can be done.
Don't forget that Reagan wasn't polling much better at this stage of his campaign.
