Ron Paul will Defeat Romney in Virginia

Thank you for the post.

That is why I have made many posts, that we should hit the ground and win all the delegates. One of our best shots with only Mitt in the race against Dr. Paul.

A simple small well done one page flyer comparing Ron vs. Mitt. Cheap to get out to the masses. Winner takes all. Will be much easier than NV.

winner take all since winner will take more than 50%

Delegate Selection: District: Winner-Take-All Primary, Statewide: if winner receives a majority Winner-Take-All Primary otherwise Proportional Primary,
(thegreenpapers.com)

I believe there was something more up with that, but I'm not exactly sure, just that it's not 100% WTA.

Romney is having an event there, today, I believe. In Tysons.

However, this is Budowski who really swings with his temperament, and I don't know how much strength to put into his predictions. B is not a conservative, to put it mildly. But on the other hand, it is an open primary, and he might be speaking to non-conservatives.

Ok .. here are the rules:
http://rpv.org/sites/default/files/VA Delegate Allocation Process_Approved7-16-11_0.pdf
as found here:
http://rpv.org/node/910

The candidate who receives the most votes, as certified by the Virginia State Board of Elections, in each Congressional District will win all of the Delegates and Alternate Delegates from that specific Congressional District. Additionally, a presidential candidate, who receives at least 50.001% of the statewide vote, as certified by the Virginia State Board of Elections, will be awarded all of Virginia’s At-Large Delegates and Alternate Delegates.

Some of the delegates that are elected based on the results in each district. Plus, there are at-large delegates that go to the winner of the 50%.

So if Ron Paul gets over 50%, he gets all of the at-large delegates, plus he get the delegates for each district that he won. If he loses in a district here or there, Romney gets those delegates.

And lastly ... the loyalty oath was scrapped:
Virginia Republicans announced Tuesday night that they will scrap plans to require voters to pledge support for the party’s eventual nominee at the presidential primary March 6.

Pat Mullins, party chairman, wrote on his Facebook page that he had informed the State Board of Elections that he will rescind the “loyalty oath” after informally polling the state GOP’s governing board .

“We welcome all newcomers like these to our party with open arms as we build a coalition to bring our Country back to greatness once again,’’ he wrote.

I'm from virginia and i can tell you that this article is correct. Even my neo-conservative friends/family members are voting Ron Paul because they are a part of the "anti-Romney" crowd. They like Newt now and before he dropped Cain's 9-9-9 plan

As it gets closer to March 6 and it's more heavily touted that Paul/Romney are the only ones on the ballot, I would think that diabolical Newt would try to push voters toward Paul in his speeches and interviews.

He's not going to pump Romney....

I'm pretty sure we will sweep Virginia, but we need to pick up a large amount of delegates before then too so it's not an isolated thing.

Interesting article. I hope this pans out. There is one thing we can't count on though:

If I were the campaign manager for the Gingrich and Santorum campaigns, I would be suggesting that all conservatives vote for Ron Paul in Virginia. Ditto the conservative movement leaders from all conservative points of view and throughout the conservative media.

Gingrich and Santorum aren't really conservatives. They just play conservative on TV. And since Romney agrees with them on foreign policy I suspect they'll side with Romney in a "stop Paul at all costs" push. We can still win Virginia, it will just be in spite of those two instead of because of them.

What if we put together a great ad for the major VA newspapers? To run @ 2 weeks before the primary? And that ad would direct people to a site to learn about Paul? We have a lot of older people in VA who do vote. So I'm thinking what if we also included an offer to those w/out internet to receive in the mail asap a dvd about Paul? 2 weeks before would give us time to mail out the dvds and we could coordinate w/one of the dvd suppliers to send them out? Would supporters be willing to chip in to help pay the supplier for those dvds? Thing is, we wouldn't know how much they would need until the ads run but older people in VA do read their newspapers and once the ad went out they would need money asap I would think. Being in VA I'd be happy to help coordinate this as would others I know. VA has diverse regions so we'd need a few different ads and we'd run the one that appeals to the demographic of each area.

Thoughts?

Virginia (primary) Proportional 15% Threshold, if >50% Winner Take All. 49 delegates total. Primary is OPEN.

Virginia is 3 delegates to each of its 11 congressional districts for a total of 33. 13 go to whomever wins the majority leaving 3 uncommitted. Any candidate taking > 50% takes all 49.

I know you all like to see positive media, but he gives no reasoning or facts to support his assertions. I'm sure this is spin of some sort, possibly pro-Gingrich spin.
