Ron Paul to Make Major Announcement Next Week

!!?!?!? Link to this please?

Matt - the private party I'm referring to is the rally at the Target Center. Several groups of riot cops were stationed throughout the building. Many more were in unmarked vans just outside the Target Center. They behaved themselves (fortunately) but were not invited. At least that is what they told me when I asked if they were there at the request of RP.

Speculation is that that Baldwin and Barr are stepping aside so that Paul can become the nominee of both the Constitution and Libertarian Parties
The Montana Constitution Party has removed Chuck Baldwin from the ballot and is putting the ticket of Ron Paul for President and Michael Peroutka on the ballot for Vice-President.

Yes, this would be HUGE, yes it would be awesome, but I just don't see this happening. Besides, I'm sure all those votes would just not be counted.

What you posted is definitely a "dream situation" for us RP supporters.

The question that remains for me though is -- besides whether it is legal and if he will be on the ballot -- can that dream take place and RP still remain in the congressional race as a Republican? I understand he is running unopposed in his district, so maybe; but I doubt it. I for one would rather have him remain in congress than head up a 3rd party fusion ticket that can't win, but simply makes a statement.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? (not looking for speculation)

...Any ideas about what the announcement might be?

Is the following true?

"Speculation is that that Baldwin and Barr are stepping aside so that Paul can become the nominee of both the Constitution and Libertarian Parties."

If it is indeed an endorsement, I really hope it isn't for Barr. The other day I watched his interview with Glenn Beck and it really freaked me out. Bob Barr basically said that if he was president in 2003 and knew that Sadam had WMDs, he would have gone in and taken him out! He also mentioned that he would have some sort of Black ops response teams. I was considering a possible vote for Barr too, but those statements on Iraq was enough for me not to trust him.

I've said it over and over again that Bob Barr is a neo-con who is simply using the LP to continue his career since his career as a Republican failed.

Bob Barr does NOT deserve to be endorsed.

I was there on the floor and walked around the building all day long and didn't see any "riot police". I saw several cops (who by law had to attend) but everyone was cooperative if not friendly. I even went outside on the street for a bit.

http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2008/09/ron-paul-to-make-major-announcement.htmlUPDATE: Eric Garris reports: Ron Paul was aware that the party planned to do this, and has said that as long as he can remain passive and silent about the development, and as long as he need not sign any declaration of candidacy, that he does not object.
Yes, Torchbearer got Ron Paul on the ballot in Louisiana because Ron didn't have to sign anything. I could've done the same here in TN (for only 275 signatures) but it would've required Ron's signature therefore I didn't pursue it.

Quick question, in the hypothetical situation of Paul becoming LP and CP nominee, would the votes add together or would they still be considered two seperate parties in terms of vote counts??

Congressman Ron Paul will make a major announcement next week in Washington D.C. at the National Press Club.

Both Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin are expected at the news conference. Barr is the Libertarian presidential nominee and Baldwin is the presidential nominee of the Constitution Party.

I wouldn't read anything into this. I imagine the "speculation" it refers to is here on RPF and DailyPaul.

yep

I dont have any fundraising concerns

If some how Ron Paul makes a run, on any ticket... we're gonna have December 16th times 10. :D

I am ready but the movements are not. We can only hope, but i know my donations are on hold until i get answers.

well

we are the movement, and if they fail to understand what we want, then my donations will fail to reach their destinations!!!! if the movements fail to listen to the grassroots then they will fail in raising money, so for the future my money will wait until i hear something worth supporting......

Yes, RP can still run as a Republican for congress and a libertarian or whatever for president. RP never became an LP member when he ran for president on the LP ticket. He can also run for both president and for congress simultaneously in Texas, at least according to my understanding. It would also probably be too late for the Republicans or Democrats to mount a credible challenge to him at this point. As for getting his name on the ballot, I don't know. I'm sure, though, that if this is going to be the announcement, they've looked into all the legalities. If both Barr and Baldwin announce that they're dropping out of the race in favor of RP, I can't see how that would be illegal. Much of this is supposition, but I place a great deal of credence in the fact that Barr, a lawyer, was talking about this possibility over 6 months ago.

I'm not sure, but it would be possible that Ron Paul might be able to run on either party's ticket. What they might do is to put him on the LP ticket in most states, and put him on the CP ticket in any states in which the CP might have ballot access and in which the LP doesn't have ballot access.
