Ron Paul talking above most people's heads

Well acording to the US Census:
USA QuickFacts

High school graduates, percent of persons age 25+, 2000: 80.4%
Bachelor's degree or higher, pct of persons age 25+, 2000: 24.4%

So, with a high majority of the population with a high school diploma only, and I would also guesstimate that a high majority from the ages between 25 - 40 never attended a civics class:

It's in my opinion, having been to 4 public schools between 6-12th grade in WA & CA as well as 4 years of public college/university, that our public educational system for the last 40 years from k-12 does not produce a student with the appropriate tools, knowledge, practice and learning to be able to critically think through complex problems, ideas, scenarios, environments, issues, etc.

For which I correlate as to why 30 second spots work, the Fed works, Wall Street works, MSM works, $9 Trillion deficits works, $250 or $500 Trillion US collateralized debt works (I forget the exact stat, but the entire public and private collateralized debt obligations in this country right now(Cars, Houses, Commercial Real Estate, Commercial Paper, Public Bonds, Corporate Truck/Car Fleets, Credit Cards, etc.), are one of those numbers or between those numbers.

Don't you just love the Teacher Unions and the Department of Education?? Dumbing down America is what they do best.

I couldn't agree more. I doubt much more than 30% of the voting population is intelligent enough to even comprehend the points Dr. Paul makes and only a small minority actually understand what they mean. This is what a federal education and brainwashing MSM will give you...

People have said it before, and I also believe that this is the first time in our history that the young voters are more intelligent and more informed than their elders and this is 100% due to explosion of knowledge and communication available through the internet. It's not that young people are really any smarter, it's just that their technical ability to sort through massive amounts of information on the internet is superior, having being brought up in the digital world.

I've learned infinitely more browsing the web than I have in school. Especially in high school and college...which have offered a dismal education at best.

I for one will not be placing my children in public education and will focus on teaching them myself using the internet.

We can blame and condemn public education all we want, but it will not change the fact that the message is failing to reach the "average voter." Ron is definitely speaking over most people's heads. If people don't understand it, the message can only go so far before it hits a brick wall.

Rp and HQ need to present the message in a way that is more palatable to the average American. It has to be dumbed down and spoken in terms that are common and understood by the people who watch Fox News and have not studied history, government, economics, etc. outside of high school.

I'm hoping that the new folks with the campaign will address the issue with RP, but if not... :(

Ron Paul maybe the first candidate in recent history who doesn't dumb down his message even if it means not getting the sheeple to vote for him.

Ron Paul is trying to do something beyond his own fame and glory. He wants us to "THINK".

Once you can clearly "THINK", you can "ACT". And that my friends, is what the R3VOLUTION is all about.

Very true. Some people don't get that and never will get it. People don't care about issues, at least not in detail. Paul's speeches should only be about the great future ahead of us and that freedom has made this country great. That's it nothing more. I can't tell you one position O! has and I see him on TV for at least 20 or 30 minutes a day. He is in the lead and his message is 'yes we can change'.

It is hard for political intellectuals like most Paul supporters to understand this but Ron's message F's up his message. The simple masses aren't going to flock to Paul because he wants to return to the gold standard. Just say 'I have a plan to fix the economy and get us back on track'. People don't want to hear about pardoning drug offenders, simply state you want to reform our prison system to make sure violent criminals are never let out early and reduce the cost of the prison system on the tax payer.

This is what the failure of hiring a professional political speech writer has brought upon the campaign.

I totally agree with you all.
I have wondered the same. Are we all smarter then the average American? Why do we not see Mitt's hair and say Oooo I am going to vote for him.
Or that McCain was a POW, he'll make a good president.

I did the same thing after Dr Pauls question to McCain. I googled it. I think most Americans just shrugged their soulders. We on the other hand, want to understand the truth.

When you break down Dr Paul's message into simple terms and words the average american totally agrees with it. I mean I have converted people by just explaining his ideas simply. And of course they agree.

Most people though just except what they see on TV as truth. My mother always told me. "Don't belive anything you hear, and only half of what you see"
I still have hope though.

QFT

The truth is the campaign needs to reach the lowest common denominator, if we are to have any chance of success. They are not doing a very good job of that, especially RP himself.

IMO, RP needs to be able to articulate his positions and intentions more succinctly. IMO, he tends to lose focus and is very unclear at times. He also talks over most peoples' heads.

The sad fact (whether we like it or not) is that many people vote based on nothing but what they see or hear from the candidates themselves. RP needs to speak in simple and concise terms that the general public can understand and grasp in the alotted time. If that means using a speech coach or writer, then so be it.
