Ron Paul on Snowden: Government calls him a criminal; I call him a hero

Where in that statement does he say Snowden should be imprisoned?

Edward Snowden broke the law. There are penalties for breaking the law, and I believe he should be prosecuted.

Follow along with me...

Rand sez:

A - He broke the law. (A flat out statement on his part)

B - There are penalties for breaking the law. (Yes, in this case, based on the court indictment, there are mandatory minimum prison sentences)

C - Snowden should be prosecuted for breaking the law.

Therefore, based on Rand's own words, he broke the law, should be prosecuted for that, it is assumed there is prima facie evidence of guilt, in which case he will be found guilty and he will go to prison.

Now, ya'll can spin until you vomit, but that's the facts of what he said, period.

Yep. Rand isn't dumb enough not to know it, either.

Part of me still wants to like him, but you can't deny what he literally said there. You can choose to give him credit for being more generous than any of the other politicians, if you want, but even still, he said what he said.

he's not his father. but it's very nice that he's out there badmouthing the NSA and being vocal about that. and I think he's actually not backing war with Iran this time. these are good things.

anyone that Peter effing King labels anti-American is in pretty good standing in my book when it comes to congress.

That is NOT what he said...

You can always count on RON Paul to tell the truth as he sees it.

Now I don't know exactly what Rand truly believes, but for those trying to say that Rand has to talk that way to be seen as a strong 2016 candidate, likely Democratic candidate Brian Schweitzer wants clemency for Snowden. If a Democrat can go against his own party's administration like that, then so can Rand. No excuses.

Schweitzer is hitting Clinton on foreign policy, too. It'd be great if he gained traction.

A bit off topic but Boobus is not going to elect a truther. Boobus wants a liar for a leader.

"Edward Snowden did the bravest thing any American can do...he woke us up. Our government calls him a criminal, well I call him a hero."

Sadly, Ron, your own son thinks he should be "put in a cage", "broken" and "tortured"...only for a little while though.

Ron >>>> Rand

Did he ever say that?

I won't defend that for you, but I would like to note that prosecution doesn't always mean conviction. I'm sure there would be a jury in his case, and they would have the option to utilize jury nullification. I think that's why Rand Paul worded it that way. Of course, I know I'm not going to convince you of that and you'll be critical of him for simply not speaking his mind if, in fact, he really does believe that according to you.

But I wouldn't make the allegation that Rand wants Snowden to be thrown "in a cage" where he will be "ass-raped", as I have no doubt you would word it. To me, that's dishonest.

It doesn't really work like that. How much support does this Brian Schweitzer guy have? Not much? Then your argument is invalid.

No it doesn't, but in this case it is clear that "he broke the law", according to Rand.

So, in a case where a conviction of violation of USC 793 and 798 results in a mandatory minimum prison term (last time I checked), then there can be no doubt that Rand approves of and thinks a prison term is deserved.

Period.

What's fucking dishonest is quoting words that I never said in this thread and then claiming I said Rand said that.

RON says, in his video presentation, government would like nothing more than to "break his spirit", "put him in a cage", where he will be "tortured".

I like a lot of what Rand does, but he's still dead wrong here. I supported him when he sued the NSA, I added my name, but that doesn't excuse his wishy-washy nature with regards to Snowden.

I saw a poll at RedState and 53% of people said Snowden did a good thing. Admittedly, I don't know how well that crowd represents the rest of the country (I know that the internet itself is more libertarian than the rest of the country) but that was a glimmer of hope.
