Ron Paul live on CNN 7:40 3/10

Since this was scheduled in advance let's hope the campaign will issue a youtube video soon or failing that someone on the forum will.

right. maybe now that the campaign has been trimmed down we'll start to see
things running as they should have been. ::fingers crossed::

Was it an insinuation or did he actually use the words "Obama" and "fraud" in the same sentence?

When asked if he would support McCain, Dr. Paul replied “he would find it difficult.” He went to add that he was at odds with McCain’s interventionist policies.

Then, Dr. Paul was asked if he would then support Obama b/c of his stance on the war. Dr. Paul said that BHO is as much an interventionist as...[insinuating McCain but was cut off.]

He went to say that Obama voted to support and finance the war and his rhetoric is a fraud.

If your rhetoric is fraudulent, aren't you a fraud? Fine line I suppose.

So do I!

At 2:09 he is asked about a potential third party run. He smirks a bit and says:

"Well, I don't think it's very practical, and I think Republicans deserve to have at least a conservative to vote for right now, because the conservative base does not support John McCain, because he is identified more with the liberal democrats, so therefore why should they be disenfranchised, although you know the odds are slim they still have a right to vote for somebody that stands for traditional republican conservative principles, limited government, personal liberties, I mean this is something the republicans used to brag about and preach, so they deserve a chance to vote for that."

From the context he appears to be referring to the Republican primaries... but how many primaries are there left?

I believe he's talking about the convention. Please don't forget that any number of things can happen before September, including but not limited to a public loss of temper, indictment, the public taking an interest in the eligibility question, a diagnosis of PTSD and/or a blood pressure-related medical problem. I believe the eligibility problem is a good out for bound delegates.

Nonetheless, I would like to see ballot access petitions in hand when the convention starts. Why wouldn't we threaten the neocons with a split conservative vote in November? They might be just as happy with Clinton or Obama, but calling their bluff will expose them to the real conservatives. That's what scares them, right there.

They really, really want to maintain the illusion that there's a difference between the parties

Yeah, something is definitely coming. He's been meeting with Bob Barr the past week, presumably about an independent run of some sort. I think it's almost clear he is either going to be running independent himself, will be supporting Bob Barr, or may even run with Bob Barr as a VP on an independent/third party ticket.

Comments like this just back up Ron Paul's general feeling too. After justly attacking McCain and Obama yet again, he's not going to leave us high and dry with no Presidential candidate. Ron Paul will either run independent, or back someone else who will like Barr.

Yes, I totally agree. Have the HQ come up with a backup plan all ready to go so Paul can threaten the neo-cons at the Convention if they don't nominate him. Just imagine entering the Convention with the endorsements of third parties (which qualifies for automatic ballot access), money (a series of moneybombs would be OK) and ads (about Paul's record).
