I would imagine a good 50% of the Cato people are simply corporatists who use libertarianism as their cover. It is a travesty that a libertarian organization would welcome a World Bank or IMF head. I know that Fox Business has, for example, had so-called libertarians (like Megan MCCardle) make fun of RP for being against the central bank. Imagine: a pro central economic planning libertarian! LOL
I know that Cato always advocates for the managed trade deals: NAFTA, CAFTA, SHAFTA, etc.. and they sort of championed the candidacy of Tim Pawlenty last spring- allowing him a personal forum to promote himself. Treatment that CATO would never afford Dr. Paul. At least Cato is getting stronger against the police state, war on drugs, etc-- so they're not just about affording intellectual cover for the corporatists, anymore
I dislike the Koch bros, but I've been to the CATO Institute and watched that thinktank do some great work. They're not the enemy even though I don't trust them.
For all the people who post and repost all the MSM interviews as soon as they are done, virtually no one ever captures these types of events off the live stream, and posts them. I think Cato tends to be a little slow in posting their events (it could be a couple days or a couple weeks). I know Rand did made a speech at Cato in April, and they finally posted the video on YouTube in July!
