Ron Paul is the Only True... SO WHAT!

People, we have completely missed the boat!
So what if Ron Paul is "the only true conservative"?
So what if he is the only this, that or the other thing?

If these things don't mean anything to Mr. & Mrs. Middleamerica, then we have said nothing of value. We've communcated NOTHING!

Based on what we have seen in the past few months, being a "true conservative" means whatever the MSM tells people it means. Look how easily a "true conservative" has come to mean being a war-mongering, taxing, gun-grabbing, big spending, border opening SOB. (If I've been too subtle, I am referring to McSonofabitch.)

We have missed the point that "true conservative" and a lot of other things we try to employ on behalf of RP took on the status of empty, meaningless slogan long before the newest crop of empty meaningless slogans (war on terror, islamo-fascism, etc.) came into existence.

We need to find a different approach. As it stands, what little of our message reaches the public is for the most part just more background noise AND it is background noise that does not interest them. At least "war on terror" still pushes a little bit of a button.

I don't necessarily have the answer but I know what we are doing is not working except with the already convinced or the significantly intelligent. The vast majority have to be caused pain or see a threat of pain before they begin to listen and perhaps, dare I say it, reason!

It's true. Unfortunately, the majority of people think in terms of liberal, moderate, or conservative. That's it. Explaining to them that Paul is a constitutionalist, federalist, paleo-conservative (or classical liberal) confuses most and takes too much time for those who rely on sound-bites. Paul will NEVER win among people who depend on buzzwords and 30 second advertisements to determine who they support and what they stand for. Campaigning on slogans is playing the media's game, and they determine the results before it even starts.

Sadly the sheep of America can only pay attention to 1 or 2 word slogans. " Straight Talk " and "End Pork Spending" won over so many for McCain.

It disgusts me that 100's of thousands of people in every state fall for the garbage. Maybe they deserve what they are going to get-- either perpetual war or have their wages garnished for socialist healthcare and/or the global poverty tax.

It's true - you can't use big words on most people because they either don't know what it means, or have a skewed definition. You have to talk about specific issues they care about and how to solve them, THEN throw the conservative word at them to wrap it all up.

Most of them are old people who are LITERALLY scared to death of "muslims."

They have never met one (that they know of -- though the guy who owns the quickie mart is probably either Hindu or Muslim) -- and most of them do not know the difference between an Arab and a Muslim, nor do they care (they hear "nuke 'em all" and shout "Amen!").

But nevertheless, the past several years of propaganda have succeeded very well, and they are all literally afraid that the big bad islamo-fascist "bogeymen" want to come to each of their homes and personally kill them.

Literally, the majority of retirees DO ACTUALLY believe this.


So they want to and WILL vote ONLY for someone who promises to bomb, nuke or do whatever else is necessary to kill a bunch of muslims in other lands (so much for being Pro-Life) help them feel safe in their little midwestern bedrooms or sun-belt gated condominiums.



Oh, AND they need to make certain that you will continue to pay them AND for the 15 prescription pills they take each and every day, and all of their OTHER medical bills as well: (Which have already skyrocketed to $27,000 per year, EACH -- PRE-boomer retirement).


Most of them couldn't care less what this means to their children or grandchildren (granted there ARE exceptions, but sadly, they are just that, EXCEPTIONS).

Ask what they don't like about Fed Govt. or what they do like or if they think we're headed in the right direction or anything to get them to talk about their opinion. Likely, once they start talking they'll find they agree with Dr. Paul more than any other and they will agree with him because he cares about their lives and about the future of this country.

People know we're in a bind, they just need to talk about it........JMO

I think you're over analyzing. The only two candidates that would have made it this far without free media love are ron paul and romney, romney only because he's rich enough to attempt to buy a presidency. Huckabee too to a lesser extent, he couldn't have made it in the beginning without the media but now he's got a small grassroots following.

McCain's campaign was over in December until the media decided they love him. Remember there were 10 other candidates and they were all neocons using similar tactics to McCain, romney, etc. The media really does pick the president, and it sucks.
