So what exactly is 'National' and why does Ron obey it? Is Kent Snyder telling Ron that visiting primary states is stupid or some bullshit?!
Bump. Seriously.
So what exactly is 'National' and why does Ron obey it? Is Kent Snyder telling Ron that visiting primary states is stupid or some bullshit?!
My guess is he is playing whackomole, letting each of them go bankrupt and saving the powder, for what I have no clue but I'd guess as the FED stampedes inflation to protect the international banker pals and the stock market crashes with housing he will unleash whatever strategy he has, 1-9 he ends up either demanding the republican nomination and if not, educates Americans with the cash and runs thrid party.
Paul is campaigning like he isn't going to get anymore money -- but it is a SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY. No results = No money.
Because, the REAL problem is as follows:
1) The grassroots were (apparently falsely) led to believe that the strategy was to WIN in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
2) The grassroots was told that $12 Million was needed by Dec 31 to accomplish #1.
3) The grassroots provided the $12 Million essentially a month early, as this total was (for all intents and purposed) reached by the beginning of December.
4) The grassroots EXCEEDED the $12 Million dollars by donating an additional $8 Million -- for a total of $20 Million by the end of the 4th Quarter.
5) Many of those who donated (often earning less than $30K per YEAR) either skimped on Christmas presents for their families (!) delayed paying various household bills (!!) and some even went into debt to donate just a bit more (!!!).
6) PUBLICLY, ON AIR, the candidate has stated that his campaign was "struggling to know what to do with all of that money."
And now, after FAILING to demonstrate that it actually followed through with the plan in #1, and keeping #6 in mind as well, along comes the campaign chairman (who draws a +30K per MONTH salary) saying that they need yet ANOTHER $23 Million, ASAP in order to "win."
Despite the fact that EVERY OTHER CAMPAIGN AND CANDIDATE has discussed their various "strategies" -- not just to their donors, but also publicly -- on TV and Radio in interviews and forums. (So is it some "secret war plan"? No one else seems to think so.)
But crucially, critically, THIS campaign believes that it does not owe ANYTHING for an explanation or information, or even a MERE HINT of it's strategy (even AFTER the fact to explain WHY the strategy was changed so dramatically in IA, NH, & SC and the other early states) to the people who are expected to sacrifice time, resources and money.
Instead the grassroots supporters are left to "speculate" on rumors and misinformation as to what the heck is REALLY going on... they are left to wonder and come up with a variety of "theories" what the "super-secret-brilliant-dynamic-duo-P.L.A.N." really IS for winning the campaign.
Even the recent addition of a "Grassroots Communications Coordinator" is nothing but a sad, sad joke... as nothing for actual communication has yet taken place -- the blog contains nothing but "wrapper" text around links to press-releases or news stories -- ALL information available either directly on the site, or elsewhere in the community.
In truth, it is the CAMPAIGN STAFF who are acting like spoiled little children that need to be taken to the woodshed and given a good, solid spanking.
And THAT is what is being done by the people NOT donating.
And it is also what is happening in each of the primaries (the VOTERS are saying "You have not convinced me to vote for you").
Most sadly is that, in the end the campaign staff WILL play the "blame game" just one time -- and they will (ironically) claim that it is the LACK OF MONEY that caused them to lose the election!
After all the screwups in Iowa and New Hampshire from the campaign staff, my guess is that he's made the conscious decision to leave Michigan to the Grassroots. That way, no matter how we place he can just say "look, my supporters did that without my help," just like he did with the moneybombs.

You are right to say that whatever happens in Michigan is because of the efforts of the grassroots.
I feel that against all the odds, media blackouts, no ads, no Ron Paul appearances, the belittling of RP and us by the competitions' supporters, and the fact that Michigan is an entrenched "old school" republican community, that we will make a good showing for Ron Paul and he will know that it is of NO thanks to his campaign leaders. Those leaders are on the more populous side of the state and I am sure had their work cut out for them. But they should not have ignored the rest of the state.
So after the primary, let's give ourselves all a pat on the back and a "Way to go!"
In the mean time let's get those signs up and knock on those doors and ring those phones and place literature in the newspaper boxes. Mailings would be a little late now.
Go Ron Paul Go![]()
Strategy has changed. The official campaign needs to be flexible and adapt to conditions. Campaign where the best results can be had.1) The grassroots were (apparently falsely) led to believe that the strategy was to WIN in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
Not if going to Nevada is going to get him more delegates.Well he really should be going down there at least one day in the time leading up to the primary there.
Perhaps the saddest thing about this camapaign is we had people who willingly who oozed out every ounce of sweat and blood for the candidate but it was not paid back by the candidate himself.
You can't run a part-time campaign. You can't run a camapaign around your House schedule while other members of Congress have no problems missing votes. You raise $20 mil and then say you don't have enough for Michigan? You can't pass up a state that has an open primary and strong pockets of support for you. Why run the radio ads and do direct mailing and phone calls then? To place fourth?
I appreciate Dr. Paul making a run for the White House because he did not have to but its obvious he doesn't have the stamina for this. We laugh at Fred Thompson for being lazy yet he endured a bus tour of Iowa that did well enough to put him in third place and kept his campaign while our candidate was back at home over New Years. Hell, Duncan Hunter is traversing up and down Michigan, why can't Ron Paul?
Again I hate to say all this, but sadly its true. I feel bad for the meetups in Michigan who are working hard to spread the message. But like Iowa and New Hampshire, Michiganders are not going to vote for a ghost.
We have to look ahead towards the future. Hoepfully there's someone out there will to take on the burdens of the campaigning, can articulate the message and doesn't come with any past baggage. It may take a while but I still hope. Ron Paul is a beginning, not an end.
My guess is he is playing whackomole, letting each of them go bankrupt -snipped-
Well, Ron may not be coming to Mich, but his $$$$$ are.... In case you're wondering(and are a Mich supporter or close), we're having a party in Plymouth, Mi at the Mayflower Hotel on Tues evening (1-15-08). Oh, and the party is on the house------or us essentially. Time 4 a celebration or something thereof.
