Ron Paul has hired Doug Wead

What would either Schiff or Rogers bring that Ron doesn't already know? Wead is perfect because he can fill a real need by helping Ron close some gaps in his campaigning.

Both Schiff and Jim Rogers get invited to CNBC often, so having them both on would definitely help.

And the average republican voters says, "who?"
Steve Forbes on the otherhand has endorsed Ron for congress and Rand for senate.
We are playing in the big leagues now gentlemen.

Didn't Forbes endorse Ron for President last time? I thought he had.

Nvm, it seems that was in Ron's Congressional races.

Yeah, we all picked up on your multiple uses of the :collins: icon on the first page of this thread. The thing is, a lot of people here don't consider that a "credible source."

I'll see if my source has a photo of himself with Doug Wead.

This would be incredible news except... the source is the one who said Ron was going to announce in February or something, right? Well the campaign generally seems to be on top of things, so it's quite possible, but I'll wait for confirmation before getting excited.

I surely hope he's as down with the message as we hope. This is like having a McNamara or a John Dean after their conversions. If they believe in the cause, and maybe have some amends to make, they can be the greatest blessing in the world.

Doug Wead had nothing to gain by speaking at Rally for the Republic or helping out with For Liberty. I don't think there's any question that he's down with the message.

There was a last minute change of strategy. He was going to. Even I had that info, and I'm a nobody.

I would like Peter and Robert Higgs. It's always a good idea to be able to say 'economic advisors' rather than the singular,I would imagine? Higgs would bring credentials and more credibilityfrom commentators. He is also a very good and convincing communicator and in my opinion has gravitas/charisma/that certain something about him.
Jim Rogers fled to Singapore to avoid US tyranny. That's probably a liiiiilllll more extreme than Schiff who lives in the US and actually received a decent amount of support during his senate campaign.

There's no evidence of this claim that Wead is on the staff, but if anyone can help win Ames, it's Doug Wead.

Doug has a strong connection to the Evangelical community and pretty much caused Dubya to become a Born-Again. IF Doug is on the staff, the official campaign deserves an immense amount of credit.

Not trying to be a wet blanket, but my parents are the average republican voter to the T, and they have absolutely no idea who Doug Wead is. Name recognition probably means less than political capabilities.

I'll also echo trey4sports' questions:

I guess the big question now is...

WHAT will he be doing?

Raising money with all his connections? Prepping Ron with buzzwords? Helping get endorsements and smoothing things out with the power players in the GOP?

I mean what is this guys specialty in politics? I know he's a historian but that doesn't do anything for the campaign.

Again, not trying to be a wet blanket, but as a sports fan I'm immediately critical of any analysis made of a player that uses emotion as a basis of understanding rather than cold, hard facts. Everything I've ever read about Bush was that Rove was his point man and campaign director, the one who put him over the top. Was Wead the true figurehead of Bush's campaign? And to that end, when did Wead's transformation from establishment backer/pusher to warrior for liberty occur (assuming his philosophical outlook has changed)? I'm familiar with the positive articles he's written for and about Ron. Am I correct in understanding that Wead worked with Huckabee last cycle? I think you guys will forgive me for being extremely wary and distrusting of anyone associated with the Bushes or Huckabee.

Yawn... and slightly worried about this development.

not a fan.

Anyone who is likely on a first name basis with Karl Rove wants watching. But I'm not so skeptical. The man has to know he will be watched. Neither Ron Paul nor we are known for blind trust. So, one can believe that Wead might just want the job done right.

I believe in becoming born again through Wead.

He's not just offering the flying car, he's offering the flying train so come on board.
