Ron Paul Endorses U.S. Senate Candidate Rep. Kurt Bills of Minnesota

Great! Just received the email from the Paul campaign about the endoresment. I am new to Bills. Hope he wins. We need MMOOOORRR liberty candidates!

Me too. Just so I'm clear, it's more important to donate to the Paul campaign, right?

This is the key. Our good patriots in Minnesota get the majority of delegates at the state convention. Endorse Bills and he has no primary fight. This is why it is so critically important to take over each states party apparatus so we can endorse. We can do it in Minnesota.

Amy Klobuchstuffitupmybutt is hard to beat. But it can be done. Chip Cravack (more or less one of us) beat Jim Oberstar (30 years in office) in a heavy DFL (Its DFL not Dem in Minnesota) district in 2010. This was like a miracle in the heavy DFL 8th district.

So this can happen. I donated a few bucks as a former Minnesotan. Watching the video the guy seems A OK.

Donate a few bucks if you can. http://kurtbills.com/Home.html

As someone else mentioned, Klobuchar polls very high in MN and with this being a Presidential election year the DFLers will turn out in droves in Minnesota. It will be VERY difficult to unseat a Democratic incumbant in Minnesota this year. However; anything is possible. The first test will be the battle for the endorsement. Bills will benefit greatly from having so many Ron Paul supporters at the state convention. If he gets the endorsement I wouldn't be surprised if there is a primary fight among one of the announced candidates or an establishment-picked candidate yet to be determined.

Bills is not one of us either. This is just a tit for tat endorsement. This is his first term in the state house. He's already voted for all the bad bills below. HE HAS ONLY VOTED "NO" ON ONE BILL! He does whatever the GOP establishment tells him to do.

Voted for:
Every budget bill.
Regulating youth sports.
Geospatial Advisory Council Proliferation.
Enabling appointment of county officials instead of election.

Chief Authored:
2 bills to subsidize companies that hire military members
Corporate research subsidies
funding a zoo without appropriation

Can anyone confirm this? Is he really not that good?

The person he is running against cosponsored SOPA. Ron's endorsements are of two kinds, 'the best between' to get specific votes (auditing the Fed etc) when the alternative is worse, and the ideal ones that have no reward to him but growing the movement. If he is the best between, and the Dem cosponsored SOPA, then you can't look at him in a vacuum, but everyone has to make up their own mind. I don't know what kind of endorsement this is so people need to look at it. It does help for Ron's endorsements to be seen to carry weight, for leverage in the future. But it might matter if it was your state or not, and everyone has their own hot button issues.

First he is running against at least two other candidates for the endorsement. One of those other candidates is awful. The other one "Doc" Severson has a similar record to Bills, but is honest about it.

why do you care so much if it is no better?

What I assume is that Ron got commitments regarding FUTURE voting.

I prefer someone who is honest, like Ron.

well, I'd have to look at his record before I donated, but I do put weight on Ron's endorsement. I'd have to see that the others are better, for one thing.

I'd prefer they were all like Ron. But it doesn't sound like ANY of the options are.

But I'm not in Minn. I was just going to look into this guy. I'm not trying to persuade you to donate to anyone whose record you have problems with.

So he voted for his own party's budget? How shocking.

It probably is, when you get into the details... but the question is is the other guy better, and why does Ron think this guy is better, to me. I suspect there is something or things specific Ron has in mind.

edit, come to think of it, this is Bachmann territory. Didn't they pretty much ALL vote for that Constitutional amendment? Wouldn't that apply to the guy he is running against?

and TC, defining a sacrament EITHER way is objectionable, I would think. Churches and individuals should work it out for themselves. But it sounds like this might have been for a purpose, this endorsement, as when Ron endorsed Stevens when Stevens pushed Ron's audit bill. There was no one better running against him, but he wasn't exactly 'one of us'. It was just that we all wanted the Fed audited.

Risk_Reward criticized this guy for voting against abortion and gay marriage, which Ron has also voted against. Ron supports a ban on abortion, and he supports the Defense of Marriage Act. The Defense of Marriage Act doesn't simply prevent one state from forcing gay marriage on another state. It also DEFINES marriage as being between a man and a woman at the federal level and strips Social Security benefits from gay couples.
