It's because of what you chose to highlight in the interview with Baldwin. Your highlighting gave the appearance that you took issue with those parts of the interview. For example...

Specifically, what gives you heartburn about the above statement?

A legitimate Constitutional function of our government is to protect our borders.

In my state specifically on my Peninsula they are running temporary suspicionless DHS checkpoints that back up traffic for 5 miles or more, and we are more than 40 miles from the Canadian border. They stop everyone, and we haven't left the country.

I don't blame you one bit. Watched Casablanca the other night and cringed at "May I zee your papers pliss." Even so, I don't see Baldwin being the worst in that regard. Honestly, I'd expect more of it from a Barr presidency...

Seriously, what has Barr said recently that would give you that impression? I really haven't seen any logical arguments to date against barr, only people pissed off because he didn't go jump in with a theocrat and a socialist.

I will not support a theocrat. Period. Chuck Baldwin may have his heart in the right places, but his positions and he rants on illegal immigration and gay marriage is just ridiculous.

Yes and in that interview that you cited, Baldwin railed against such checkpoints. I don't agree with those either.

I also believe that if we cut out all the freebies, that the huge volume of illegal immigration would stop. But yes, I do think we need to defend our borders.

I'd be more than happy to give you a logical debate about Barr. We can start with:

His words praising Jesse Helms
His interview on Fox that said we should bailout Fannie and Freddie
His "pro-life" stance,even though he paid for his girlfriend's abortion
His support of the War in Iraq, Patriot Act, REAL ID Act, Military Commissions Act
His snubbing of Paul and the CFL at the Press conference
People claim Baldwin is a theocrat, but he has openly reached out to athiests. Barr, on the otherhand, tried to ban Wicca when he was in Congress
As for the gay marriage aspect, Baldwin wants government OUT of the question. As long as it is in the question,he wants to revoke it to a state-level issue. He supports DOMA (as does Barr and Paul) but not a Federal Marriage Amendment.

Neither are these of course are true. But good things to address. Ron is against managed trade(our current trade model...which is absolutely not driving for free trade). Chuck is also against this corporatism managed trade that has to be busted up and given back to the markets.

In terms of economics...the guy said he would put Ron Paul in as Secretary of Treasury...uhm...please tell me how we could get a better choice on this...waiting to here if you think otherwise.

In terms of prostitution, porn, etc you and others have to choose between being spying, torture, war, economic disaster and the fiction somehow that peoples personal choices would be erroded more under our people being in charge versus mccain and obama...

I respect RPs endorsement, but at the end of the day I gotta vote my conscience. I think the reason he did not want to endorse a single candidate is because he wanted to force the followers in this movement to become leaders, even if they only lead themselves. So while I have tremendous respect for Dr. Paul, his endorsement does not guarantee Charles Baldwin my vote. There is a lot that can happen between now and November 5th. I'm gonna sit tight and see how things play out before I make up my mind.
