Ron Paul Email

I cannot quickly re-find the pertinent CNN link, so I pull the following CNN transcript excerpts from Daily Paul:

http://www.dailypaul.com/241260/cnn...nc-by-paul-supporters-full-transcript-of-show

BLITZER: No. Are you okay being associated because these are all your supporters who actually filed the lawsuit?

PAUL: Well, if they have a legitimate argument that they can make and that's what they want to do, I'm not going to say don't do it. If they ask my advice, I'm going to say don't. I didn't motivate them to do it.

BLITZER: Have you been in touch with him or his folks about a role for you at the convention?

PAUL: Not me personally. Maybe staff have indirectly, but, no. I'm not expecting a whole lot to happen there because, you know, we had to have -- you know, we had to have more delegates to say that we had to have, you know, time for speeches and that sort of thing. No, it hasn't been resolved. They haven't turned us down. We haven't made any requests. And a little bit more time might solve all those questions.

BLITZER: Well, a lot of us will be watching to see, Congressman, if you get a primetime speaking venue at the Republican convention. That would be significant. I assume you agree.

PAUL: I think so. I think that I would probably take care of the opportunity if I could give my speech.

Now "all" y'all have to figger out is whether grassroots effort to nominate from the floor FOR a speech derail behind-the-scenes maneuvering to be INVITED to speak.

That is outright dishonest. More to follow:

meanwhile here is the transcript: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1206/19/sitroom.01.html

and this is not the only discussion of 'his speech' there was another where Ron specifically spoke about HIS speech, the speech he would give UNEDITED and UNCENSORED if he had a 'nominee's speech' by being nominated from the floor. This interview was after that, and despite Blitzer trying to push Ron into a conciliatory posture, I sure didn't see Ron end up there. More of the transcript including some parts you left out:

BLITZER: Supporters of Ron Paul's presidential bid are suing the Republican National Committee. They're accusing the RNC of improperly helping Mitt Romney throughout the Republican nomination fight and they're challenging rules requiring many Republican delegates to vote for the winner of their state's primary or caucus at the convention.

In an internal memo obtained by CNN today, the RNC is calling the lawsuit, quote "frivolous." Ron Paul stopped actively campaigning but still hoping to influence the convention at the end of August in Tampa.

Congressman Ron Paul is joining us once again from Capitol Hill.

What's your reaction to this lawsuit, Congressman?

PAUL: Well, I've heard a little bit about it. But it's not part of our campaign. There certainly have been times when we felt like we came up short in the process, but not extremely so. It hasn't ever motivated me to file a lawsuit.

But, you know, at times when we've been pushed around, it's because the other side hasn't followed the rules, you know? And they closed down conventions for us. And they've done things to try to prevent us.

But that has not motivated me to file a lawsuit.

BLITZER: Are you OK just being associated with some of your supporters who have filed this lawsuit?

PAUL: Am I associated with them?

BLITZER: No. Are you okay being associated because these are all your supporters who actually filed the lawsuit?

PAUL: Well, if they have a legitimate argument that they can make and that's what they want to do, I'm not going to say don't do it. If they ask my advice, I'm going to say don't. I didn't motivate them to do it.

But sometimes they do. I mean, sometimes they're in the states there's been times when I want people to act dignified and not try to cause a ruckus and break -- you know, and disrupt things. At the same time I tell them you don't have to tell them to get pushed around. If they're not following the rules, you have a right to stand up for the rules.

I think for the most part these winning caucuses that we've been involved in we have followed the rules. And the other side has at times not followed the rules.

and

BLITZER: Your son, Senator Rand Paul, has endorsed Romney. I take it you're not yet ready yourself to endorse Romney, are you?

PAUL: No. Not ready.

BLITZER: You're not ready?

PAUL: No way.

BLITZER: When you say "no way," what's stopping you? You obviously appreciate the fact he's going to have 1,144 delegates that will put him over the top.

PAUL: What's he going to achieve? I think it's legitimate for us to continue to debate. I know they don't want the debate at the convention. Everything has to be smooth and proper.

But you know, I helped pay for the convention because the taxpayers pay Republicans $18 million plus. And Obama gets $18 million plus to have these grand parties. I think we should be serious and discuss differences.

It used to be that we would go the last time I actually went and attended a convention. We didn't even know who the nominee would be. And that was in 1976 when Reagan was challenging Ford.

I mean, they used to mean something. Right now I would like to have these conventions mean something and continue to debate and decide what we as a party actually believe in.

BLITZER: Are you ready to say that Mitt Romney won this nomination fair and square?

PAUL: Won what?

BLITZER: Won the Republican presidential nomination? Has Mitt Romney won the Republican presidential nomination fair and square?

PAUL: I have no reason to say that he cheated. No. I don't have that. All I know is that various factions in the party, which is something that has been rather well-known throughout history, is that people will do certain things to make their party look better. But as far as saying that he's done something unfairly, no, I'm not saying that.

PAUL: I think so. I think that I would probably take care of the opportunity if I could give my speech.

BLITZER: Congressman, as usual, thanks very much for coming in.

That 'my' speech at the end was clearly emphasised, and following the interview earlier that day or shortly before that, saying he wanted a nominee speech, that was different from a regular speech, I think he was clearly saying both he wouldn't be censored, and that the cards had yet to play out.

I have posted this transcript before.

Ron Paul specifically said to Wolf Blitzer that, if asked, he would advise AGAINST the lawsuit.

In the same interview/transcript, he indicated that he WOULD like to give a speech.

Soooo, what's your latest beef with me?

read above. You were highly selective in the words you pulled out. In fact, you move me to pull an email off twitter that was going around yesterday....

(just a min....)

edit, I can't find it quickly, but it was a combination of both some of Ron from that transcript and some from when he was asked about voter fraud and basically said sometimes he did have to wonder about it, but he didn't have facts, but hoped those who DID have facts they could document would pursue it.

YOU are slanderously wrong:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoYvUbFmTc8

The bit about advising AGAINST the lawsuit commences at 3:45.

Convention talk commences at 7:00, focusing on a Ron Paul speech just after 8:00.

I said 'dishonest' not that he didn't say those words. See the transcript above or watch your ENTIRE video. He clearly was pushed to disavow the suit and wouldn't, for one thing.

I honestly have no clue what the #*$@ the campaign is thinking. Why do they feel that it's necessary to constantly remind everyone that we can't win? The actions we take now to get Paul nominated will have an impact, even if we don't succeed. Why is the campaign discouraging its supporters from trying? IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!

Unless convention drama jeopardizes the "playing of politics" that is clearly UNCLEARLY happening, as per usual, behind closed doors.

I have to think, with the wording and timing of this, as well as a couple other emails, that Ron Paul is under duress.

I'm not 100% convinced, but getting there.

It is just that RON PAUL never ever speaks this way in interviews or speeches, he is the Ron Paul we have always known. It is the weirdest disconnect.

Most likely the thoughts were communicated to a staffer, who wrote the email. It would have been read by Ron, approved and sent out. That's SOP. Upper management in many companies do not even write their own emails, that's what secretaries are for. Why would we expect it to be any different at this level.

'would have been'. Ron has always been the worlds most hands off manager, sometimes to his detriment. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, no one here knows.

It's uncharacteristic, that's for sure.

Know that they ARE threatened by him and us... so for sure, you know that TPTB have probably attempted to threaten him some way.

Either that, or the campaign is severely compromised and co-opted at this point.

It'd be naive to think either of the two have not been tried. Because this is NOT the RP that we all know. He'd NEVER send letters like this with this kind of bad timing. Not in this negative, defeating tone. He's always upbeat and positive.

For sure. I mean, he was doing speeches / rallies all over the place for awhile, with between five and ten THOUSAND attending many of them. Then it suddenly just stopped. And then the defeatist emails. And lately the forums are nearly dead, and what life remains is almost overtaken with negative energy.

300 delegates is wayyyy too low, they are selling themselves short. That's not including many of the stealth delegates.

Dear Liberty Activist,

Just last week, I sent you an email letting you know my staff would be following up with you shortly to tell you everything you need to know about our plans for the Republican National Convention.

My staff has been busy burning up the phone lines, so many of you may have already heard from them.

But because this email is so important, I wanted it to come directly from me.

For several weeks now, I’ve been up front about the fact that Mitt Romney has obtained enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination.

That fact hasn’t changed - and it’s not going to change.

Over the past few weeks, my staff and I have researched the numbers extensively.

We’ve come to the conclusion that even if by some miracle all delegates to the Republican Convention were unbound, I would receive approximately 300 votes at the National Convention - far short of the 1,144 needed to secure the Republican nomination.

It’s also come to my attention recently that many supporters believe a win at the upcoming Nebraska State Convention this Saturday could be an important step for my campaign’s success in Tampa.

While my campaign is hoping to do as well as possible there, I can’t imagine a scenario where my goals or my plans for our R3VOLUTION in Tampa would change. They are:

*** Ensuring as many of my delegates as possible are credentialed.

There are many folks in the GOP who want my supporters to just shut up and go away, and they have resorted to every dirty trick in the book to game the system at various state conventions. You and I must ensure that as many of my supporters as possible are credentialed at the Republican National Convention.

*** Planting our flag.

Just by seeing a flood of my delegates in Tampa, you and I can respectfully send a loud and clear message that we are the future of the Republican Party. Seeing so many new and young faces at the RNC will show that despite their best efforts to maintain their iron grip over the Republican Party, our liberty movement is the future of the GOP;

*** Affecting the Platform.

By fighting for an internet freedom plank, Audit the Fed, and a plank opposing the indefinite detention of American citizens – and perhaps even opposing the so-called “PATRIOT” Act and undeclared war - you and I can prove we are a growing force in the Republican Party and perhaps convince more GOP elected officials to come our way on these critical issues;

As a National Delegate or Alternate, you’ve invested a lot of your time, talent, and hard-earned money into my campaign and our cause of liberty.

For that I am deeply grateful - and I can’t thank you enough.

I’m looking forward to going to Tampa and celebrating the success of my campaign, and more importantly, our bright future.

So if you haven’t yet done so, please CLICK HERE and register as a delegate or alternate so you can be kept up-to-date on our plans in Tampa.

And if you know of any other delegates in your state, please forward this email to them, as well.

I hope to see you in Tampa.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

Ron is trying to bring the insane optimists to their senses before they lose all faith in everything come September because their wildest dream didn't come true... this is his way of saying this fight IS JUST GETTING STARTED and all the people who think it's August or bust are not looking at the big picture.

Big picture we are winning and if you can't see that I feel bad for you. 2012 is just the start... we have to assert ourselves every election from here on out...

except when there is a push to support delegates, as with Nebraska, and before that with Oregon and before that with Texas. and we got defeatist messages around each of those events.

I don't know what is going on, and I can write off the campaign easily. I won't write off Ron until I see something untenable come from his own lips.

June 2012: "When it is all said and done, we will likely have as many as 500 supporters as delegates on the Convention floor."

July 2012: "We’ve come to the conclusion that even if by some miracle all delegates to the Republican Convention were unbound, I would receive approximately 300 votes at the National Convention."

Where did the other 200 delegates go?!

A lot of delegates were thrown out by the GOP establishment.

I'm not sure I agree with this at all. I personally know some delegates to the national convention from Minnesota, and while they have not said they are not going, they have this sense of "what's the point?" and it's DIRECTLY because of these defeatist emails. As someone said above, it MAKES NO SENSE. And I never yell. But it doesn't.

Why would you encourage your supporters to work through the process and become delegates, at great personal expense (both time and money) and then just figuratively bash their heads against some rocks this close to the convention?

As I said, Ron Paul is either under threat OR he's genuinely worried that the convention may turn violent. I just don't know.

bingo. If the campaign isn't trying to undermine the ability to nominate Ron from the floor, they had better find someone else to send emails.
