Was kinda weird to see Zbigniew Brzezinski walking out on the set while Paul was out there.
From memory ...
The interview was generally positive, polite, and respectful. Mika introduced Ron as "presidential candidate Ron Paul", and Alex Wagner even called him "Dr. Paul" when addressing him. Ron clearly stated that he was not endorsing Romney and laid out the stark differences in their positions. They touched on:
The health of the Republican party
The campaign's objectives in Tampa
The growing liberty movement in the party and its goals
The delegates and the movement's presence in state and local government
Challenges to some of Ron's libertarian positions (of course)
Interestingly, Joe Scarborough was not on set for Ron's segment even though they discussed Joe's piece in Politico about why he voted for Ron. Mika read some great quotes from the article, btw.
Ron had a great response to Mike Barnicle's question about the responsibility of the young and the so-called "social contract". Got a fist pump from me, and I hadn't even had my coffee yet. Hope someone posts the tube.
As long as the media will continue putting Ron on camera, he will continue challenging peoples' ideas about the role of government.

I flat out refuse to watch TV so in order to hear what he says tubes are necessary...

Ron Paul says we are paying more into Social Security than we are getting out of it, and Mika says that doesn't make any sense at all at the end. Is she saying his statement doesn't make any sense? Or was she saying paying more than you are getting out doesn't make any sense.

That's because she cannot think. She thinks that if you put $20 in and take out $40 twenty years later, that you have taken more than you have paid in.
But what she is not grasping is that which is unseen (Bastiat). What would you have done with that $20? If you had invested that on your own, you would have had over $100, and the overall economy would have been benefitting from it in the meantime.
So, Mika, what does not make sense to you is a demonstration of your ignorance rather than a non-sensical statement by the good doctor.

I am bothered by sanctimonious though. I think that was a not so subtle dig at Ron Paul right there.
Ron Paul collects Social Security.
Is Ron Paul and/or his supporters perceived as sanctimonious? I know that I perceive many of the supporters on these forums as sanctimonious, in particular those who berate others for compromising principles as it were.

IMO It would be impossible for many old people to make ends meet without SS.
People live for today, and set very little aside for the tomorrows. Most of us are not squirrels by nature. Perhaps the program needs to be refined, but I would hate to see it abolished. Ending SS, would dramatically increase senior welfare payments. We are not a country that will turn our backs on our elderly. It is what it is.
