Ron Paul Channel Monthly Fee...

I would love all of this! My main problem right now is that I can't share the videos with any of my family or friends. There's gotta be a better way to do this than charging people up front.

I want to see a damn roundtable of liberty heavyweights and various other guests and be able to share their insight with the ignorant masses with a simple click of a mouse.

We can slingshot Voyager 1 outside the solar system, but we can't get Ron Paul and Ben Swann in the same room hosting a show?

Thanks for the tube. Good segment as well. I think that as Ron does more and more shows, he will get his sea legs under him and get more comfortable. This is so important to be able to speak freely and tell the truth. How lucky we are to be able to tune in and watch a modern-day founding father in his own words give a rational constitutional perspective and solution to the evils that we are facing today. The subject matter is rich and bountiful and right now seemingly endless.

I also imagine it won't take long before the attacks against Ron and his show start to pop up. There will be the usual snarks from the pretenders as well as full frontal assaults from the machine's mouthpieces. We must be vigilant.

Hey guys! I got a present for you, TUBE!! :D

This looks like the official channel, I surely hope it is.. can anyone confirm?

I hope it is too. If they plan on sharing the video after the fact, then that will work. Though, someone needs to teach them how to sync up the audio and video.

No it is not. RonPaul.com is behind it.

Seems to me that would be a copyright violation.

Anyway, last night when Ron was on Cavuto they led with a number of 200,000 subscribers. Not sure if that is what they have or what they project. I am guessing it is a projection based on a percentage of the number of email addresses they have (eg. 1.5 million emails, 15% conversion ratio or thereabouts). At 200,000 subscribers at $10 a month that's $24 million/year in gross sales. Not too shabby for what would be a relatively low start up, low overhead business.

I think it's how many people signed up by entering their name and email address, not actual subscribers. But even if a fraction subscribe he'll still do quit well.

Looks official. And recently created... Looks like someone was monitoring the pissed off masses of supporters.

Thank you for posting! Looks like a problem with my system. I'm guessing a conflict with Ghoastery or because I'm paused in the middle of a NetFlix... Anyway, it won't stream for me off the official site. YouTube works fine, though.

I thought there was some fantastic content in that show! They both need to get more comfortable talking to a camera for an extended period.

This channel needs an editor/producer. It's on the fly, but apparently per-recorded. There were other minor things, but specifically these 3 come to mind:

1) Greenwald was talking. Camera cut to Paul who wasn't, but looked like he was choking on something. Camera stayed on Paul. Footage of Greenwald could have been substituted.

2) Paul's hair flop at the end of his closing remarks could have been re-done.

3) Most damning: There is a URL in the upper left corner:

#### DO NOT CLICK THIS! #####
www.youtibe.com/TheRonPaulChannel1
#### DO NOT CLICK THIS! #####

Note: "youtibe"

This re-directs to a long ago abandoned Christmas sales site that asks your permission to upgrade your codecs so that you can see their site in all it's glory! (translation: "Hi! - just click OK and let me add some spyware and a few Trojans and we'll have you part of my botnet in no time!")

Right now, Dr. Paul is his own worst enemy. He's just set in his ways and beliefs about what works and what doesn't. He's incredibly suborn. And the world is changing. The subscription thing is a prime example. As almost everyone has yelled, that restricts the audience to the choir. Based on this thread, 3 out of 4 in the choir don't want to subscribe. I thought we learned a lesson with the CFL precinct leader program. I believe they asked for $25 for downloadable materials that asked you to do homework and research on locally elected officials, etc. That project seemed to have bombed. In our state, we have over 2,000 precincts. I believe a total of 8 precinct leaders stepped up and handed over the $25 bucks.

A lot of great ideas have been presented here:

community funding

Moneybomb

YouTube advertizing revenue

Advertisers

Doing it on the cheap

Stop relying on contractors that don't care. Organizing and socializing supporters is what builds movements!

If anyone can get this post in front of RP's eyes, please do. For that matter, point him to the damn threads - all of them!

I see that now that I am looking over the site.

"Since announcing the Ron Paul Channel’s creation solely on Facebook and Twitter, more than 200,000 people have gone to www.RonPaulChannel.com to express interest in learning more about the channel and Dr. Paul’s programming."

http://www.ronpaulchannel.com/about-us/

But yes, at even a fraction of that, there is some major cash to be made.

His stated claims are to educate the public. Not to enrich himself.

Who knows???

He seems very principled. But the decisions he's made as far as directing the movement and control issues... Granted, money can buy you influence in the general populous...

I can also see the advantages of creating a Libertarian "Disney World", with all the funding it needed - perpetually....

What is he thinking...

As I see it, there were essentially three paths he could have chosen for this venture, the start up costs for all being relatively equal:

1) Subscription based - highest margins, lowest number of viewers. Basically this is the simplest way to do this. Your variable costs (bandwidth, CC processing, etc) are all covered by the cost of subscription. Once you get through your first few months and cover your start up costs, it's pure revenue. But, he is going to reach the fewest amount of people this way (i.e. only people who will subscribe)

2) Free with advertisements - low margins, higher number of viewers. The issue here is finding advertisers willing to fork over enough cash to make the project profitable. It's a catch 22, since you need viewers to attract sponsors, but you need sponsors in order to spend the money needed to get new viewers. Also your internal costs increase because you need to have additional staff to sell the ads and handle the processing of the revenue. And you could wind up being caught with your pants down so to speak - if he launches and 2 million people are streaming his videos from day one, then his bandwidth costs will be high and he may not have the revenue coming in to cover it.

3) Free with donations - very low margins, higher number of viewers. Just like with number 2, you get a ton of people watching, but you are relying on people donating to keep the thing alive. Think like The 700 Club or any of those type shows on TV. So depending on the amount of donations coming in, the broadcast might turn into a beg fest every week because they don't have enough coming in to meet expenses. In my view this is the riskiest option.

So he chose number one, and with good reason. If he makes that 200,000 subscriber number that's 2 million in monthly revenue. I don't think either of the other options could even come close to that number. So it is a smart move, he keeps his costs low and his margins high. He basically did the same thing in 88 with the newsletters - they were a pay per subscription product as well - this is just the 21st century version.

all i have to say is the minute i have an extra 10 bucks a month to spend. I am in for this channel. I hope many of the ideas in this thread are listened to. This needs to be expanded to the non-ron paulers asap.

I think the way he expands his subscription base if by continuing to be out there doing interviews on news shows, and pitching the channel when he can. Beck does a free trial with The Blaze, I would think that once they have significant amount of content up on the site, that they would do the same.
