Ron Paul Channel Monthly Fee...

its not about living off of it its about saving it for the future or investing it for the future. college funds, property, economic collapse funds etc.

The original contention was that Ron *needed* to earn a living.

And again, in most families the grandparents do not provide any of those things you listed for their adult children.

He should look at doing YouTube stuff also though, as he can make money off those videos without having to charge people to see them.

He's got a large enough following so that he'd make some serious money off ad revenue on YouTube.

As it looks now, the project is going to fail and he'll have mud on his face. :(
They also only advertised it on FB and Twitter, so many of his supporters don't know it exists.

This reminds me of the birth of CFL in so many ways...

Also keep in mind, according to what Ron told Alan Colmes in the interview today, there are about 20 employees working on this project.

Which seems to be all the more reason to set it up for success and maximize the potential client base.

Honestly, none of what you've said puts a dent in the concerns people have. I really don't see people saying it's not worth $10/month. I see people saying that they would personally pay --- and pay even more, in some cases --- but that they're disappointed they can't point people to it as a teaching resource.

50,000 dollar speeches is more than a lot in this movement make in a year.
I doubt he actually makes $50k per speech. In the music industry, which I would assume is very similar, the artist has a guarantee. But that is subject to negotiation. If the artist wants to go to the event, or if it's en route to somewhere they are already going, or if they just simply like the people or are trying to cross-promote it then they will be willing to accept less. Again, it is my guess that his speeches always get negotiated downwards. But remember, the manager/agent gets a cut, and then there are first class travel accommodations, etc. It's not cheap.

$10/month subscriptions from a few faithful will not make up for a lost income, if that's what this is meant to imply.
He has at least a couple of million supporters. If 10,000 people (%.5) subscribe that is $100k/month. Think about it...

I doubt this is for him to make money and more for those around him, as I would imagine (at least HOPE) he has retirement savings after making $100K a year for 15+ years as a Congressman.
I think Congressmen make $180k/yr

Sounds like the model for the newsletters all over again. Pay a fee for a subscription, get your copy.

The internet, however, works a little differently.

Uhmm... seriously, Dr. Paul!?

Monetize your videos and include a few ads -- both would probably generate more revenue than a monthly subscription fee. Heck, there are teenage girls that are making six-figures a year from monetizing their YouTube makeup channels -- surely Dr. Paul can do just as well.

I did.

Didn't you just mention 20 employees? Isn't a portion of that going to self-sustain the project? Moreover, you're going on record as predicting a reliable 10,000 person subscription base?

Incidentally... you might want to check your math?

I'd prefer if Ron followed some of the alternative media models, that seem to return bigger earnings.

Does anyone know a lot about SPN(the outfit that is organizing and manufacturing the Ron Paul Channel)?

I may do it for a month and see how it is... is there any gold mining analysis =)
