Government Reform: Ron Paul BUDGET Released! ** "Plan To Restore America Now" **

I have skimmed over the budget but I dont understand one thing:
If he pulls troops home from around the globe, why would he need defense spending to equal what it did in 2006 (when you were already overspending)? Shouldn't it be at least as low as 2001 before going to Afghanistan if not lower?

Much of the war spending has been in supplemental bills that are not part of the DoD operational budget.

He keeps dhs!!! Boooooooo

DHS includes:
  • United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection
  • U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Those three can probably be consolidated into one agency, but they are legitimate federal government powers (Immigration, Customs and Border Patrol)

There's also the Coast Guard, which is included in the DHS budget for non-war related operations and the Secret Service

So basically a Ron Paul DHS would be: Immigration, Customs, Border Patrol, Coast Guard and Secret Service

He'd abolish/privatize/transfer/consolidate:
  • TSA
  • FEMA
  • Homeland Security Advisory Council
  • National Infrastructure Advisory Council
  • Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee:
  • Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council
  • Interagency Coordinating Council on Emergency Preparedness and Individuals with Disabilities
  • Task Force on New Americans
  • Domestic Nuclear Detection Office
  • Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
  • National Protection and Programs Directorate
  • Federal Protective Service
  • National Communications System
  • Directorate for Science and Technology
  • Directorate for Management
  • Office of Policy
  • Office of Immigration Statistics
  • Office of Health Affairs
  • Office of Intelligence and Analysis
  • Office of Operations Coordination
  • Office of the Secretary
  • Privacy Office
  • Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
  • Office of Inspector General
  • Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman
  • Office of Legislative Affairs
  • Office of the General Counsel
  • Office of Public Affairs
  • Office of Counternarcotics Enforcement (CNE)
  • Office of the Executive Secretariat (ESEC)
  • Military Advisor's Office.
  • National Cyber Security Center

There's one part of Ron Paul's budget I don't understand, and actually joined to try to get explained.

The line titled National Debt, why does it keep climbing even with the surplus in 15-16?

If the budget is truly balanced shouldn't the national debt go down? I remember reading that Ron Paul promised not to raise the debt ceiling again, but if the National Debt is still rising, wouldn't that guarantee the ceiling would have to rise?

Good question. I don't have the answer. Bump for clarification on this issue for you. Welcome to the forums.

Oh look, an official plan straight from Ron. I guess we don't need to make those philosophical arguments when trying to convince voters to vote for Ron anymore

lets name it counter intuitively like the patriot act: This wont work. lol

The column for the debt held by the public (owed outside the US government, not money owed to Social Security trust fund) increases slightly by 454 billion over 4 years. Only in 2015 and 2016 does it show revenues exceeding outlays. Regarding the National Debt, it may relate to the fact that some is money we owe to ourselves and it says it "Includes policy assumption 112th - HR 2768". This is what Ron mentioned in the debates:

To cancel public debt held by the Federal Reserve System and to lower the public debt limit by an equal amount.

This may be how the debt ceiling does not have to be raised. However, accounting is not my thing.

And this is precisely why we need to get Ron Paul into office. He has a solid plan that he isn't afraid to openly explain to the entire country.

Just read this...what shocked me was how anti-libertarian the budget is...sure it cuts money but it could have cut a lot more. For example...why not eliminate the ag department? It is one of the dumbest federal agencies in government. Also a little concerned about how Ron Paul was using one time revenue events to balance his budget.

On flip side...many people aren't voting for Ron Paul because they think his budget would entail more extreme cuts than what it does. If they only knew...

I think a cool idea would be for all candidates to come together for a debate...about nothing but their upcoming budget. All candidates would be required to have their budgets done by the time of the debate (well budget outlines) and the moderator could compare and ask probing questions. I think the American public could learn a lot more from that type of debate than the 'talk about your wife' and 'are you running as a third party' debates... Maybe should Ron Paul and Doug Wead can publicaly challenge the other candidates to come up with their own debates and to engage in a special

That would make it too easy for the American people to make up their own minds versus being lead by the Media's influence and biased polls.

This is the best budget I've seen.. well, ever! I've printed about 100 copies and handed them out. $1 trillion first year, y'all.
