Trump readies plan for Congress to ax taxpayer funding for NPR, PBS , and more

But the CIA can and does pump in enough tax money through its USAID-style sock puppet to do all of that.

CPB was a hare-brained scheme that wound up in the only condition it could ever have hoped to achieve. Not that Trump can, or would if he could, but stick a fork in it. Dumb idea. Got fifteen decent years out of it, then it went as corrupt as everything else the government touches.

I diagree, especially on PBS. It's now what it used to be, but it's still better than most commercial programming.
Since the content is mostly locally selected, your PBS is probably different than mine
They will lose.
SCOTUS has already ruled that Trump has power over any executive agency.
Trump will invoke Impoundment and the Impoundment Control Act will be overturned as unconstitutional.

Looks like you didn't read anything I posted. Which makes any conversation irrelevant.
Scotus has already ruled, as have district courts. But I already posted about this.
Time to move on.

Damning it with faint praise.

This is the same thing as Amtrak. We'll never know how fast the private sector might step in to fill the void, or how much better a job it'll do, as long as the government is in there monopolizing the niche.

Yes, we do.

There's no reason there are not 100 trains like this running across the country, outside of, as you mentioned, everfucking government and Anthrax gumming up the works.

I used to love NPR I supported them from my local Jazz station they had several programs such as Wait Wait Don't tell Me and Camp Woe Begone. They were both canceled by NPR way before this EO.
It did not really bother me too bad that they never mentioned anything good about Trump ever but what did other me is they acted like Hillary was God's gift to the world and pushed the racism and LGBT agenda til I just got sick of them and just can't listen to them anymore.
PBS did a good interview with Steve Bannon and he really boiled their pot dry. But the interviewer had some kind of breathing problem that was very annoying and I think they did it on purpose because they could have edited it out if they wanted to. They would have never had they guy interview one of the dems darlings..

I used to love NPR

Once upon a time they weren't bad. Then they fired Bob Edwards from Morning Edition, and I wondered why on earth they would do that. Within days I figured it out -- they were bringing on a level of propaganda Edwards was too principled to participate in.

Then they cancelled Prairie Home Companion and severed all contact with reality, and I haven't tuned NPR in since.

Yea all of that is why I just can't stand them any more. I don't even listen to the Jazz on that station anymore because I don't want to risk that NPR might my flood my ears before I can turn it off.
I used to listen to the radio a lot but I just can't listen to the ads to get my vaccine for covid. when covid happened I stopped listening to radio. I haven't watched tv for years. sometimes I see tv because I am at someone else's house and my autistic nephew loves watching game shows but I don't live in his room so I just hear a Jeopardy question or hear the sound of spinning on wheel of fortune but he keeps the volume down most of the time so it does not get on my nerves.
