Ron Paul/Barry Goldwater Jr. to be on the ballot in LA

Would the Louisiana Taxpayer's Party like to become the state affiliate of the Conservative Party if we can get off of the ground?

I find this odd that RP was able to get on the ballot but Bob Barr was not? :confused:

(I don't necessarily support Barr, but this is curious to me)

It would be the failure of the libertarian party, both national and state if he didn't get on...
Louisiana is the easiest state in the union to get on the ballot.
I do know for a fact that Barr's campaign has not responded to many inquiries from the LALP central committee to get things going in this state, and this has pissed off a lot of people on the committee...
And then, I leaked to them that Ron was going to be on the ballot, and they weren't too happy about that because it would take away from Barr, so they may have just decided to support the Ron Paul ticket.

If we get the LALP and maybe the CP behind this ticket, along with all the ron paul supporters, we may cause McCain to lose louisiana.
I make a motion to have an end of september money bomb for state wide tv ads and yard signs for our precincts.
The goal would be to take 15% of the state votes. (though we could get upwards of 5% with no advertisement- that won't be enough to cause mccain to lose)
 
Ok, now we need to get the website updated with content. I sent the graphics for the yard signs so people can download it and bring it to your local print shop to have your own signs made.

Yes. And 9 electoral votes going to Obama due to Ron in LA and another 15 from GA getting tipped to Obama due to Barr, could swing the entire election to Obama.

That would teach the GOP not to put up lackluster, liberty trampling, Constitutional violating, big government, war hawking, liberals as their nominee.


Not that I'm bitter or anything.....

You pegged it. The LAGOP broke 5 of their rules to keep Ron Paul from winning all the delegates prior to super tuesday.
I told one their guys, I hope McCain is worth it because you have started a war with people who will not quit.
They will not respect us until they fear us... and what causes politicians pain? People voting in blocks against them.

Get on every single talk show you can between now and the election and just simply say you are doing this because the LAGOP broke their own rules.

Make the People understand that your motives are simply to send a message to the local GOP. You have to explain to them that you are not going to let the local GOP deliver a victory to the national GOP because of the way they treated you and Ron Paul.


It is quite likely and completely within the realm of possibility that the future of the entire country and the next President of the United States is (literally) in your hands right now.

Just got off the phone with the LALP chairman.
They don't have all their paperwork in to get Barr on the ballot in Louisiana.
They have until tomorrow, but their elector in shreveport is awol and without his paperwork they will have to back the Paul/Goldwater ticket.
Plus, I got them to commit to our precinct program.
That is a huge force.

Wow, do you mean that we were more motivated and organized than an established political party? :D

I don't know the guy's name. It is someone they picked up after the convention because we didn't have anyone from the area attend the convention to run for that seat.
WHoever it is... they are a temp rep for that district... in fact, that area has never had much libertarian interest and was the last area we were able to fill for our own electors.
If I had to guess, its Donald Heacock... he takes the position, usually in name only.

To be fair, 90% of our established activist are now working for the Ron Paul movement and the campaign for liberty leaving the LALP severely crippled.

It is just a three name moniker made up of ron paul supporters, mostly from the baton rouge area. Its not an official party with elected central committee or anything. Not sure who would have the authority to answer such a question.

Now if they achieve 10% in the election, they will have to formalize a party. At that time, they may choose to join/change to the party you are talking about, but i would assume that such things would occur in convention. That would be the appropriate route.

On the ballot, each of the above parties would be listed the same "No Affiliated Party".
So it really doesn't matter that much in louisiana.
The only parties that will have their designations listed are
The 3 major parties: Republican, Democrat, Libertarian
Two minor parties: Green, Reform.

All other parties fail to meet the guidelines in the state law to be defined as any of the above, thus are listed as "No Affiliated Party"
