Ron Paul/Barry Goldwater Jr. to be on the ballot in LA

Remember, this is a deep red state that hates McCain. It is a state that has an appreciation for Barry Goldwater and where we almost won the GOP Caucus.

Is LA really a deep red state? I've always thought of it as one of the most liberal states in the U.S. Have I been so mistaken?

so how many states can we do this in????

So how many states can we do this in everyone without needing ron's signature???

Sounds like a great opportunity to shake things up in all the leaning and swing states

Tyler, you'd have to look at the election law in each state--but this is not possible in most, or even several, states. Louisiana and Montana are anomolies.

LA is one of the deepest red-states in the Union, lagging behind Alaska, Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Georgia.
But it is also 2/3rds registered Democratic--but thats because of the legacy of southern Democrats and the anti-Republicanism that is still pervasive amongst conservatives here.

Conservatives have to love the South. It's a competition between all parties on who can be more conservative.

BTW, I think South Carolina has you beat on extremism. "Extremist"=Principled in that state.

South Carolina cannot beat Louisiana in terms of "Extremism". In our 1991 Gubanatorial election, we had 2 candidates on the ballot and no ability to write-in or vote third party. The two candidates? Convicted criminal and former Governor Edwin Edwards and former Grand Dragon of the KKK (and elected State Representative), David Duke. Edwin Edwards would win after bumper stickers and signs appeared all over the state that said, "Vote for the crook, its important!"

As for conservative loving the south--its really a competition between all parties on who can be more big-government conservative. Hating Muslims is a great thing, War is unquestioned, English should be the only language, and the free market is basically evil.
Rediculous.

No--you'll notice that Ron Paul, the true Conservative, did very badly all across the South, despite being very organized here. Libertarians do badly here, as do Constitutionalists. The only TRUE conservatives elected in the South are Walter Jones(NC), John Duncan (TN), and Ron Paul (TX). The West is the really conservative area.

I think the South is where our philosophy was founded. It can be popular, it's just so dirt poor (or just being lifted out of poverty) due to the rape it experienced during the War for Southern Independence. That is why the South is the way it is now. It has been subjugated by military force, and it will take a real revival of the Old South (minus racism and slavery) for it to be prosperous and conservative again.

I know with Louisiana and the David Duke situation. I would have voted for the crook in that case as well. Don't want to get the even more racist Yankee marching his armies back down on you. South Carolina elected Strom Thurmond for several elections.

The South is nor where our philosophy was founded. Our philosophy is a libertarian-style conservative philosophy that was first seen (in modern times) in the Western and Midwestern politicians of the Old right, in the 30s,40s,and 50s-exhibited imparticular by Rep. Howard Buffet (R-NE), and Rep. Robert Taft (R-OH).

The modern members of our ideology are mostly Southern Republicans: Ron Paul (R-TX), Walter Jones (R-NC), and John Duncan (R-TN). Former Representative Steve Stockman (R-TX) could be added to this list as well.

One could easily bring up Larry McDonald (D-GA) as a refutation of this, but the more prescient examples for the midwest include Rep. Chenoweth-Hague (R-ID), Rep. John G. Schmitz (R-CA), Rep. Mel Hancock (R-MO), Rep. John Hostettler (R-IN), and Rep. John Leboutillier (R-NY),none of them from the South--all of them Republicans.

Thomas Jefferson is the original constitutionalist libertarian-type. He was from Virginia, the South. John C. Calhoun was an example of an early conservative politician, he was a South Carolinian. The secession of the Southern states was an attempt to get the North from tariffing the South to death. Also, the areas you speak of for Northern conservatives were some of the places where Southern sympathy abounded during the war. California actually contributed more soldiers to the South than the North.

Im speaking mostly of modern history--because if you want to look to where our ideology was founded you actually have to look further back than the existence of the US. Our modern ideology was not born in any specific geographic area, but is predominantly Republican (with the almost-lone exception of Larry McDonald of Georgia) and rural.

Is everything in place for our reptilian take over?
If we can get Ron Paul on the ballot our cold blooded brothers can begin their assault on the masses we duped into the freedom message. *hisssssssssss*

We are going to set up an account pretty soon, and will be accepting donations. We hope to run TV and Radio ads and actally make a serious dent in McCain's 16 point lead here in LA.

Have you gotten confirmation of the ballot yet?
I have goldwater's media coordinators number, we can get him down here to push the ticket.
But i'm not calling until it is confirmed.
Also- have you been in touch with adamt? he can help out too.

SOS is supposed to be open today, and their website is back up. I hope we hear something soon! :)

Subject: ballot information?

Is the Louisiana Taxpayers Party ticket of Ron Paul and Barry Goldwater, Jr. going to be on the ballot for President?

I was contacted by an employee at the SoS today, and we still have some hoops to jump through before this is official--but we're almost done.

Sorry for letting the cat out of the bag early, Trent. The email got me too excited. It sounded like a for sure thing by their response. They have freaking socialists on the ballot in Louisiana, so they better at least let us on there.

They've updated their website, and the Paul/Goldwater ticket is listed here. :D

Wow...there are two different socialist party tickets listed on the ballot.

Ok, once this is finalized we can get in touch with goldwater's office, and maybe even Ron's office to see if we can get some official statements or releases from them to put into a release we give to all the state news agencies.
