Ron Paul/Barry Goldwater Jr. to be on the ballot in LA

We have 2 electors' mail in today. We have confirmed with the other 7 (myself included) that they put it in the mail yesterday. The filing fee was put in the mail today, but is coming from only a couple miles away and should be here tomorrow or saturday.

Brent, give me some feedback on thart "About us" thing I posted.

the only thing I saw, that may confuse some people is this line:
we wish to bind the state down with the chains of the Constitution

They may take it as saying, federal government bind state government with the constitution.

perhaps its can be rewitten:

we wish to bind government down with the chains of the Constitution

A good Jefferson reference, a response to a question of how can we garuntee that only good men will rule...
well, there will be bad men ruling, but if they are bound by the constitution, it matters not their agenda.
But without the constitution, bad men will turn this country into a place ruled by the rule of men, not the rule of law.

Brent,

If we're talking about how it really SHOULD be--private ballots are the answer.

i think a non-bias neutral party to host the ballots would be hard to find in the private sector of louisiana.
I'm for extremely small government, but a voluntary tax, ie ballot access fee, is consistant with constitutional government.
You don't have to pay the tax if you don't want to be on the ballot.
and only those on the ballot pay the tax. The state government civil services employees are paid by the kitty to host the polling station.
I'd actually trust that system over diebold holding private ballots.

Brent,

By private ballots I did not mean that Diebold would be counting them or anything.

Of course, the method you suggested is constitutional, as is mine.

Private ballots still have state employees doing the counting, but don't have filing fees because of the privately printed ballot. Each person can make his own (probably according to some specific reubric, 12 pt font etc etc) or a party (republican, democratic) can print them, or some advocacy group (Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty) would distribute it (or make it available for print). This takes control of the ballot out of government's hands.

It could be seen as a voter tax. albiet a small one.
As in, you are requiring a person to provide their own ballot. That would be an expense to vote.
It would be in the interest of the politicians to pay for and provide the free ballots to the voters, so the fee should go to the politician on the ballot.

I see your philosophical point.

Either way--both systems are preferable to the terrible ones that exist across the nation. Especially in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Maine.

I'm impressed. If Paul/Goldwater Jr. get on the ballot, that'd be sweet. With proper media attention, they could pick-up a nice chunk of the vote in Louisiana.

As most of you know--a unique situation has developed. With a hurricane bearing down on Louisiana and supposed to land Tuesday night, Im hoping to be able to turn in the forms today (friday). I'll update you later on that.

Come on, post office! Do you think if they close they will have to give us an extension until they reopen if we can't get it done today? We have come this far. If we have to, I bet we could file a case with the Louisiana Supreme Court if the hurricane makes them close and they don't want to accept it after.

I have already filed a case against Kia Motors in the Federal Court in Hattiesburg for a lemon Kia Rio that I bought in New Mexico. I got a decent settlement considering I was up against a large law firm out of Jackson. If we have to go this route, I am willing to help unless one of you thinks that you can have it wrapped up.

I like the "about us" section that was suggested by shotdown1027 and the correction that was suggested by torchbearer. I think we can expect way more than 5% from what I have been hearing. People are really tired of being lied to, and they all know that both of the major candidates are liars.

Most of us here are pretty young, but we have come from all sides of the spectrum to try to restore some integrity to our government before everything we know collapses. May God shine some light on us. We have a chance to be the change that we want to see, so maybe we should keep going long after the election.

I have 7 elector forms in my car, and me and my friend from District 6 are going to get ours done today, then turn it in.
