Ron Paul 2016?

Evidently, it's the other way around.

You feeling a little brass I see. Glad to know you have someone already running for Sheriff in my town - thanks. Good luck to you and yours.

You are so on the dot with this one.

I'd still like to see him on the Supreme Court.. no long grueling campaign season

If he was "too old" 5 years ago, how is he going to convince those people 4 years from now?

I think he would be happier and more effective at this point just going around the country spreading the message of liberty.

I agree. I mean, I think we got a taste of it by some of the statements in his speech. He's going to feel much less restrictive in what he says now that he'll be retiring from Congress.

This is a silly distraction...Rand Paul 2016 is the unicorn we may actually catch...

Ron will be pushing Rand in 2016. If Rand wins the nomination then, imagine the shock to the TPTB when he announces HIS FATHER RON will be his running mate!

Ron Paul is not going to be on the Presidential ticket in 2016. We need to put those thoughts and rumors out of our head. If people are going to help Rand Paul win the
GOP nomination we need to raise ninety million by November 30, 2015. Yes, we need to more than double our donations from the 2012 Presidential election cycle. We also need to be allies with Marco Rubio and anyone who supports him early on or in the future. Doubly we need to be allies with Jeb Bush and Chris Christie backers, so we can neutralize their candidacies. Rand Paul needs to be allies with Marco Rubio. Rand Paul needs to find common ground this year and start working together.

There's a certain contingency that will never stop campaigning for Ron Paul for president. When he's long gone, they'll still exist in the form of a new religion with its own holidays, jargon, and sacraments.

Here are the holidays:

January 11 (Formed exploratory committee in 2007; day that started it all)
March 12 (official announcement)
April 26 (2012 exploratory committee)
May 13 (official announcement 2012)
May 15 (Paul-Guiliani debate in South Carolina)
August 20 (Ron Paul's birthday)
November 5 (Guy Fawkes money bomb memorial day)
December 14 (Blimp's first flight)
December 16 (Tea Party money bomb day)
December 29 (the day Ron Paul ate eggs for breakfast in Iowa)

It's a fight that needs to happen.

Either this website will move on to the future and continue to be relevant, and I'll keep coming here, or she will stay on as a mod.

You can take it up with Josh. I don't expect Ron to run, I just think Ron is the best candidate, to the extent that he would still be best if he did run in 2016, regardless of his age. Because of that, I do oppose the idea that he would be taking a back seat position to anyone. IF he ran at all, I would want him in at the top of the ticket. However, I see him as more likely the standard bearer, at that point, while someone else may be the candidate. I wasn't the person who started this thread.

But note the mission statement:

Mission Statement: Inspired by US Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, this site is dedicated to facilitating grassroots initiatives that aim to restore a sovereign limited constitutional Republic based on the rule of law, states' rights and individual rights. We seek to enshrine the original intent of our Founders to foster respect for private property, seek justice, provide opportunity, and to secure individual liberty for ourselves and our posterity.

and the modified Liberty Forest introduction Josh had after the 2008 election was over, when Ron Paul Forums was the subtitle instead of the main forum name:

Welcome to Liberty Forest, (LibertyForest.com). Named after the Liberty Tree, a famous elm tree that stood near the commons of Boston, Massachusetts Colony, in the days before the American Revolution. The tree was a rallying point for the growing resistance to the rule of England over the American colonies. In the years that followed, almost every American town had its own Liberty Tree—a living symbol of popular support for individual liberty and resistance to tyranny.

We are the Liberty Forest so to speak, as the internet is one large meeting place and we welcome all who rally here in defense of freedom and liberty.

The forums aren't just about electing one particular person to one particular office. Candidate elections are a big part of what grass roots work on, in the candidate subforums, but they are not the only relevance this overall Ron Paul Forums has. This is Ron's subforum and since I don't personally expect him to run again for office, I expect it will be more devoted to his supporters supporting his philosophy and issue advocacy, which he has indicated he will be continuing.

I'm focused on some 2014 races, preliminarily, but I don't see a reason to focus on 2016 yet. I am focused on specific political issues however, and on grassroots initiatives supporting the mission statement, and on having a meeting place for people with a similar mindset, including Ron Paul supporters regardless of what other candidates they may or may not support in various races.

Ron Paul is already a joke to an unforgivably large percentage of people. He is ammo against the movement in some circles. I won't be associated with another attempt. Have some dignity. His time has passed.

After the 2008 election he made it clear that he wouldn't be around forever and that for this movement to have meant anything in the first place we'd have to take the reigns our damn selves.

So, NO.

Ron is a joke, compared to whom? To the larger percentage of the electorate who view Romney or Obama choices we just got as a joke? If he runs again, I'm prepared to laugh heartily with Ron, all the way into the White House.
