RON is on fire. We just won the Presidency

I hope youre right Larry.

That was one good answer and the rest, well, I cant even remember RP being there to be honest.
Waiting for youtube to rethink it.........

I thought it was a success for multiple reasons:

1. The annointed attacked each other and looked petty and rediculous in doing so

2. His answers were 100% perfect for the NH GOP and Independent demographic

3. The "gang up" will bring outrage and sympathy and possibly push a few off the fence.

4. His answers were delivered with clarity, innovation, and a direct reliance on the boundaries of the Constitution.

At first I was annoyed by the hysterical amount of excess time given to Romney and Giuliani to make their points (guess I'll never get used to the unfairness), which caused Paul to rush through some of his answers. But I think Paul getting the last word in most of the rounds was an overall plus.

Then my sister (die hard Democrat, Hillary lover) informed me she detests Obama, and based on Paul's answers said she would vote for Paul if it came down to those two! I called up my equally Democratic mother, and she said the same thing! Something's in the air!

Definitely not an isolated incident! The folks at democratic underground seem to have found respect for Paul:

The best part is that he's reaching out to Obama's people- that's gonna be the key tomorrow. The 19 year old kid and 40 year old mom opposed to the war- looking for their candidate.

He didn't do a good job at that though. He didn't say WHY Obama supporters should switch. He just mumbled something about free markets or something.

C'mon Ron, if you want Obama supporters remind them that you'll allow them to live their lives!

I absolutely loved it when Gibson was talking about how everyone has changed their platform and proceeded to go down the row pointing out all the bad items the candidates flip-flopped on and when he got to Ron Paul he said something like, "I really couldn't find anything on you other than you changing Parties." I think that definitely shows his character and will look good to anyone that is on the fence about who to vote for.

:)

We need a lot more work in NH to get Presidency. RP did very well in today's debate but he's 3rd yet in polls.

January 4, 2008

New Hampshire GOP Primary

John McCain ........ 31%

Mitt Romney ..........26%

Ron Paul ............... 14%

Mike Huckabee ......11%

Rudy Giuliani ..........8%

Fred Thompson ...... 5%

http://rasmussenreports.com/public_...lection_2008_new_hampshire_republican_primary

Break away 7% of McCain support and 4% of Romney and RP can stage a major upset and be among top 2. It is possible but will take a lot of insurgent effort and smart strategy to target NH audience.

Target McCain's 100 year Iraq war and that Romney really has no message that a dozen other candidates don't. People want change if we can convince them that we have the right message and formula for change.

the masses won't see the foolishness of the other goons like we do, they will see it as politics as usual, and will even vote for one of the lesser evils UNLESS RP takes the reigns and rises above them in more than just short 30 second bites.

Sillvergirl,

I agree with your points As I have been helping in NH I have met people who don't seem to understand what Ron is saying and have an opinion of him that seems formed from the "kooky" "fringe" comments they hear from the "experts" on TV... and they havn't looked into Ron for themselves.
When Ron answers in these short format "debates" he sometimes gets in too deep for the time he has, so then has to paraphrase some of his key points, leaving those who can't fill in the blanks wondering what he was talking about.
He finished very strong tonight though, and I hope many in NH were watching... just don't know how many will realize the others (including the DEMS) were blatently stealing from him.

I disagree highly with #3. The pro-war shout-down scared off all the independents.

lets put this in perspective.........

lets just say Paul was just mediocre. we can all almost agree that Romney was the worst tonight and THAT my friends is the key. even if all support went to mccain (it didnt) it would only help our chances of 2nd....

I think Ron Paul did great in the debate. He was calm and collected and did not involve himself in the mudslinging that characterized Romney, McCain and even Huckabee at the beginning of the debate. The only thing that concerns me is that he didn't have enough time/didn't dumb down his message enough to swing a large number of voters. Hopefully they will have become interested enough to look up more about Ron Paul and his views.

I thought he was awesome!!!!

Seriously, I thought this debate had better questions than any other debate.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here and let groupthink dominate. He did really good, but each of us must keep working.

EXACTLY! Do everything under the sun like canvassing, district captain, delegate, donate, sign wavw, etc,etc

Being on the west coast I am just one hour into watching this debate. I think RP is doing FABULOUS...and I am a tough critic. So far, I feel RP has been very clear and has explained his positions that most people could understand.

I completely agree. RP needs to take the fight to 'em.

Yes, Ron is making principled statements based in a sincere interest in benefitting
the public. Yes, you are a sophisticated and loyal supporter who has made
untold sacrifices to help spread this message, a message that must be
distributed and learned.

But, we must not underestimate the pathology, power and ubiquity of the elite
and the technocrats that are deeply vested in our current system.

This is the beginning of a long long struggle. We must plan for the long term, as
one man cannot make substantive change. It will need to come from the public, it
is the public who will need to change themselves in order to implement real
lasting change.

People, please read Political Ponerology so you can begin to understand what
we are dealing with.

The rumor is that to defy FOX, Paul is going on tv tomorrow in NH on another local station. Going on half an hour before FOX would be perfect to leave his thoughts fresh in everyone's minds right before they might choose to watch the FOX forum.

If this is true, it would be the perfect opportunity for Paul to do what he does so well. Speak directly to people in his unassuming common sense way. A perfect foil to have for viewing the 3 ring circus BS of the other candidates on FOX.
